Beyoncé - "MORNING DEW (DONK)"
This is how I feel. She has SO many songs that deserve the attention (and that would actually do well too) but...

I know it most likely isn't going to happen, and even all this chatter about it is silly and nonsensical... but just the thought of it, the faintest possibility, is almost soul-crushing. Nope nope. Let's focus on the positive! I know we haven't gotten any real leads on act-iii yet, but B has been in her creative, vocal and production BAG with act-i and act-ii and its so exciting to imagine what else this evolved B is cooking up

I agree that a well planned, polished and crafted Jayoncé album would be great. BUT, that can and should be its own thing. The trilogy is to HER name, we don't need The Carters added on to it at the end. I personally feel that even if it is an epic and amazing album, if it is "act-iii" it is going to be a disaster in many ways for the legacy of this trilogy (that wont be saved by the project excellence or even good commercial performance). Whats even the point of making this trilogy then? Like ugh

Personally, I don't think 29th is a real pattern, like you only said, two is not a pattern necessarily (tho for a trilogy it can be read as one). While I agree the anticipation, frustration and confusion was a big part of the hype of the ST drop, I don't think it was planned in a way that they calculated it all - for the most part it was B figuring out what sound she wanted, what spoke to her and when she actually managed to finish the project. Since then, B has said that she cares about what her projects speak to culturally, artistically and about her as a person who is always growing an evolving. I really think she is still unsure about the 'cultural' moment in which act-iii will drop and what she really wants to land in terms of the 'conversation'. I think times are a bit too chaotic and she is figuring it out and still tweaking to see what will feel right (including the 'when'). We have to be honest that we don't any longer just get albums from B which are just 'a collection of songs' or 'just good music' - her projects are always conceptual and have a lot to say.

Because I'm personally not too satiated or excited over this release, my mind is more thinking about these types of 'strategic' theories. - I fear it is mainly suggesting that we aren't getting anything for a while, maybe December the earliest. And so they have decided to fill the void for fans with this re-release. This suggests that there are really unexpected delays in terms of the project reaching a point where B is happy. - This could be misdirection as well, showing us something else that is coming (a countdown? really? When is the last time we had it?) would make everyone put their guards down. It is closer to what you said in terms of making things unexpected. But I fear this is the Delulu in me

100%, in fact my mind mostly was tripping on the marketing disaster only... how did it reach to the point of pressing is insane. Also... the cover, does it mean the trilogy didn't really have the theme of a horse? Its so messy

oooh. Thank you, cuz I lowkey agree. I wasn't the biggest fan of the trailer either. Now I'm not being negative about it, cuz if it was created with a purposeful vibe and aesthetic, I trust B to deliver on the visuals. So I've never said much about it. And with Renaissance being a full 1-hour playlist and a night out party, I assume she was going for another film anyway. But who cares, it's all scrapped. I'm not too scared of the trapped-at-home concept, but yes, it doesn't work for the other acts. It can work for Renaissance, as an escape to the dance floor, especially honouring its 'roots', it could've had an 'underground' and somewhat sweaty vibe. If she's adamant about doing films, what I really hope for is a fun, expansive concept - her own universe, per se. The Cowboys vs Aliens theory was so fun. The underground dance floor, serving as an escape into the galaxy, sounds fun and visually appealing, too. Either way, my hope has just been that it is an actual concept and not something too abstract and artsy - then just do music videos tbh, we don't want BIK rehash. Or at least I don't. (I like BIK). I'm so curious about where her mind is at. Like... hmmm. Does she visually want to tell one larger story? Is it going to be act-specific? Is it just not coming cuz she decided she's gonna save the visuals for the album after the trilogy? CC is political but not really all the way, it has its escapism into the country western like Renaissance has its on the dance floor. And if Act-iii is rock, it has to be political and culturally very sharp and prudent. And the times are too volatile to really nail this. No idea what she has in mind for the trilogy as a whole beyond reclaiming genres. And that too, CC had plenty of rock on it.

The other track on my mind was that I genuinely feel B is not kicking off act-iii because the cultural moment isn't there. B has said many times that she's not chasing chart success but cares about her cultural currency and the statements and reflections she makes as bodies of work. With how crazy the world has been lately, maybe she's waiting for or tweaking the moment she wants to actually strike. B is also someone who always likes to have an important element of subverting expectations and the boxes shes put in - with so many predictions around act - iii, I wonder how she plans on pushing forward.

I forgot to engage with it at the moment, but someone in here talked about considering that Cowboy Carter has heavy Rock influences and it is lowkey incorporated and played with on multiple songs. I don't know what it really means in terms of Act-iii, but yeah. I agree, CC is "country" most prominently as a 'world' - like a western, so even when we bend genres - the imagery is always rooted in country western films.
