Madonna is the undisputed Queen of Pop with a career spanning almost half a century.

Question is which decade you think she was at her best?

Imo, commercially, 80s Madonna is one of the biggest peaks in music, however, to me 90s Madonna is her creative peak. The music, the production, the videos, the tours.

I'd rank the decades - 90s > 80s > 00s >>> 20s >>>>>>> 10s (everything went downhill after that damn Superbowl )

The 2000s has a special place in my heart because I lived through those eras.

Confessions II is THAT good to put it there imo.

90s and it's not even a question. Imagine having three albums that are as different as Erotica, Bedtime Stories and Ray of Light and they're all excellent.

By far the 90s, we got everything from EROTICA (my favorite Madonna era) to Ray Of Light.

Gotta be unpopular and say the 00s. Music, American Life, and Confessions all rank among her best. Ray of Light trumps them all, but I prefer those three albums to Erotica and Bedtime Stories, so the 2000s wins.

Not to mention Celebration is an 11/10 Madonna single and one of her signature songs in my head canon.

Objectively probably the 90s but subjectively for me the 2000s.

The run of Music > American Life > Confessions is amazing. Music and Confessions are both in my top 3 and AL is deeply underrated.

80's & 90's.

There's a weird resentment towards her 80s catalog with stans because its become so GP-favored, but it really is her most consistent decade. Every album/era has classics and the overall albums are all well liked.

90s, 00s, and 10s all have one or two albums that are misses and dreadful trend-following at times (even during 90s, all those AC ballads for example).

90s > 00s > 80s > 20s > 10s

first three pretty self-explanatory, Confessions II is an incredible record and the Celebration Tour was fantastic, the 10s... we made it through the wilderness i suppose

Objectively it's the 90s, but I voted for the 20s because for me personally as a fan it was the most special and captivating Madonna era I witnessed: I finally got to see her on the Celebration Tour (never expected it to happen and it was only a lucky incident that I did end up getting tickets), I took the most intense deep dive into any artist's discography ever thanks to the legendary Madonna Discography Rate on P*pJ*stice (RIP), then finally discovered the genius of her remixes beyond the most obvious ones as well as her importance for dance music at large via the beautifully curated Finally Enough Love compilation (and Veronica Electronica last year), and then of course the crowning achievement and career highlight that is the Confessions II era. I don't think there's ever been (or ever will be again) an artist in the fifth (!) decade of their career still reaching so many new heights and accomplishments. It's so beautiful to see a new generation of fans discovering, respecting and celebrating the greatest popstar of all time.

Absolutely agree. AL was an era with many dilemmas but that was the beauty of it.

No one will ever gaslight me into believing her first 4 albums are better than her 00s albums. There are not enough boomers alive to make me believe that.

About this decade it only has one album but that album is better than the 3 she released last decade, plus Finally Enough Love and Celebration tour were also amazing.

90s — Blonde Ambition tour, Truth or Dare doc, Dick Tracy, I'm Breathless, Erotica, Sex Book, The Immaculate Collection, Girlie Show tour, Bedtime Stories, Evita and Ray of Light. I rest my case.

90s by far, it had:

•Her commercial peak (1990)

•Her celebrity peak (1992)

•Her critical peak (1998)

•And her string of flawless albums, Erotica, Bedtime Stories, and Ray of Light

People like to say that she was a flop this decade, but Billboard named her the 6th biggest artist of the decade. Most of y'alls faves didn't even make the top 10 for the 2010s decade end charts during their commercial peaks. Her 90s albums sold 87 million copies worldwide, and Vogue, a 1990 song, is arguably her biggest hit.

If we're just talking albums, 90s. If tours also count, then 00s.
