I don't get her point at all. Beyoncé is not avantgarde, she's a pop singer. So of course her approach is pretty accessible for a wider audience, not to a niche one. Her remarks about "being a cartoon of a white person" are extremly out of line. You can just say the music surface-level and bad and leave it at that. No need to attack her on a personal level.

I am not a fan of Phoebe, but I respect her writing skills. She can set a scene with her lyrics, Gracie simply can't do that. Gracie simply doesn't have any redeeming qualities, nothing. She doesn't offer anything. No interesting insight, no heartfelt emotion, no perspective other than scratching on the very surface of her own without actually providing you any information why you should keep on listening. Just nothing. If Solar Power by Lorde was your GOOP evening soundtrack, Gracie Abrams is literally dinner with Gwyneth Paltrow herself, an upgrade in shallowness.
