If anything I think American labels are just trying to target more international markets. That was the whole thing with KATSEYE. They wanted to use the k-pop model but internationalize the girl group recruitment process to appeal to the broadest market possible.

It's mostly just a hunch but I do sense that she'll be around longer than previous long-running chart toppers. That said it's been proven time and time again the shortsighted nature of trying to appeal to fickle middle American audiences as a woman. I wouldn't be surprised if she tries to make a more pop/country pivot but her conservative background will make it very hard for her to develop the loyal female/gay fanbase that is crucial for longevity like Kacey Musgraves has. Kacey might not be topping the hot 100 anymore but her last album still had her best opening week to date showing that she has maintained a strong cult following. Even Dolly Parton who is the consummate country/pop crossover had a very strong queer audience to carry her through the rough years when she became somewhat of a joke to the general public in the 90s.

I think it's more irritating because people are erasing Say So's cultural impact in favor of the blonde white artist. Say So was a huge hit and even had a higher billboard peak. Certainly there are plenty of disco revivals but Doja brought a certain bedroom pop sensibility that Sabrina would later expand on. Doja certainly deserves more credit as a tastemaker. I know she's kinda sabotaged her MPG potential but it would be nice if these girls would start to put some respect on her name.

There is an active global boycott of the UAE currently because it is dependent on global tourism in a way that the US is not.
