the premise is just unappealing. these aren't artists, just workers that are hired on contract by those big conglomerates and once they are done they are discarded and replaced by other sheep. it just stinks with corporatism.

I mean this is the case for most pop girls this site stans, Western labels are just better at selling their pop acts as an authentic and genuine person.

Both of them were always smoke and mirrors and with both groups signaling they want to focus on solos and look past their labels, the pr machine is grinding to a halt. ALL pop music stats are heavily driven by label investment and kpop labels have always been willing to pull the plug on top acts to keep control of the industry. SNSD is a great example of this, members left the label but not the group around when their 6th album came out and despite having a fanbase big enough to sell out stadiums anywhere on earth if they pleased, the album and single basically charted nowhere for any significant amount of time. rip

There are still acts in kpop who are showing streaming and concert attendance growth like aespa. The industry needs to shake its western reputation of being garbage music for children so BTS and Black Pink going away is a good thing.

Garbage meanwhile BTS's latest album has 89 on MC - your fave metric when you talk about acclaim. So what's the tea?

It's not over that K-pop movie prooved it

They just gotta sing in predominantly English if you want American audiences

Most KPOP groups have been releasing English versions and original English songs for more than half a decade now to little noise outside of their fanbase. KPDH is clearly an outlier and animated movies attract an entirely difference audience anyway

K-pop is far from over. Tbh I don't get the criticism to the music itself, K-pop is actually great. It's just that the artists (?) are just puppets put zero effort to their outputs

Wasn't k pop demon hunters the biggest soundtrack ever?

K pop isn't over. BTS and Blackpink just make bad music.

We all know that fan-driven acts(not just kpop, but yes, all kpop too) pay for reviews. Some of the worst albums of the decade with universally panned user scores are green on MC because of it. rip

nope it's actually bigger than ever worship

idk why people are so shocked that blackpink latest effort didn't do as well since it's nothing more than a quick cash grab with old demos and 0 promotion/acknowledgement from the members

K-pop has arguably the most prominent presence in the Western pop culture rn. K-pop Demon Hunters has literally won a Grammy and an Oscar rip

KPDH was a smash with the kids, but I think it was hit or miss with adults. BP and BTS both clearly lost steam and have been around for eons anyway. People want something fresh. Undeniably, NewJeans should've taken BlackPink's place tbh. It's only a matter of time before a new interesting group debuts, or NewJeans somehow manages to comeback as 5 before 2029 lol.

Just that era of BTS/Blackpink/etc.

They killed off NewJeans who had the biggest potential to really make a dent, but I'm sure eventually, there's going to be a new supergroup with international appeal

NewJeans had the potential to be bigger than BTS especially in the West but MHJ killed any momentum they had left. They had everything that was beloved from BTS and BLACKPINK with none of the nonsense baggage that came with it.

A Lana fan calling an entire genre of music ai slop then using a gif of an artist from a completely different country to try and drag while trying to act intelligent

boo did i give you the impression that i gaf? it's the same brainrot slop. you have a lot of nerve trying to come for one of the most acclaimed, influential and complex artists of our generation that changed the music industry. J0s101s can't even change their diapers. no one cares if they are selling a lot, their "impact" will be non-existent, forgotten and a long useless fart when all is said and done.

The quality in the music has definitely declined since every company wants to pander to the West (US) yes

This has to be bait bibliahh Certain groups may be over, but the genre feels bigger than ever

They'll be fine if they let the music speak for itself. Didn't that Illit song have a cute organic moment

Didn't K-Pop just receive its first Academy Award just last weekend? hoetenksAnd ain't K-Pop Demon Hunter still on its 30th week of charting on Netflix charts. And didn't BTS just have the best streaming album ever this morning?

K-Pop quality may be mid now, but it's bigger than it's ever been. Lol
