No, absolutely not. Here's the thing: with OG Showgirl I thought CANCELLED! was a chop from the start. Cleveland! isn't that. These overly dramatic reactions to Cleveland just show how ridiculous y'all have gotten about Taylor's music these days, which is kinda literally what the song is about.

IMO the deluxe tracks aren't excellent enough for everyone to like them but for me, they actually made me feel more reassured than IKIIKY did.

Whether she releases a few tracks to clear the waters or not is entirely her choice and the fact that she decided to do it isn't surprising at all. Trying to shift the discourse is just very Taylor. And I don't necessarily disagree with the rest of your post. My point still stands 1) her decision to release the Showgirl deluxe is not surprising, and 2) there's no contradiction or backtracking in her deciding to release it.

I think you totally misunderstand Taylor Swift and how she operates. The Showgirl deluxe is not surprising AT ALL. It's so Taylor to come back and try to spin the discourse around the album by adding a few nice songs. And when she emphasized that there would be no new songs, she clearly meant there wouldn't be some surprise 3AM edition or a double album. Not to mention she already said she made ADDITIONAL songs to "celebrate" the album's chart success. I think you're the one who really needs to stop acting dumb here.

Yep. The melodies, the production, her delivery, all great. If you're really THAT bothered by the lyrics, then you're either 1) pressed or 2) care way too much about how online losers "react" to some of the lyrics.

I guess this deluxe is really for the fans. It's full of melodies that fans would love. What I find interesting about it is that just like the OG Showgirl, it's actually very band music-ish. The OG Showgirl had this sort of undercurrent, and even the deluxe tracks have some pop-rock undertones. Like Patient Zero almost sounds like a Coldplay song in melody wise.
