Everyone talking about this album flopping and not having a hit but when has Doja ever had instant hits lol her songs tend to take off a while after they're released

hack antoff is squeezed dry creatively

this album would benefit with a more crisp and stellar production

not  the muddy wishy washy questionable production the album had

i realized that the songs on this album would be better with another producer. the content of the songs are there, but they are just lacking production wise compared to her past albums. tired of the jack antonoff productions

Jealous Type should've been released in May/June back when it still had the TikTok hype.

 

She should've done more festivals throughout the summer, maybe even a mini US tour where she could drum up GP interest and perform new tracks

 

Gorgeous released in August as the second single. Maybe even Acts of Service as a promo single.

 

Take Me Dancing ft SZA as the album release single with a big music video and late-night performances

 

A bunch of sexy TikToks with different album tracks in the background

 

And a good 80s album cover that actually fits Vie's sound and aesthetic

exact same thing happened with Jealous Type the second it flopped

 

the album is indeed too cohesive, but once you start memorizing the lyrics, the beats, the melodies and structure of each individual song, it is practically skipless.

i've only given it one listen cos there was a lot out yesterday but i think it's pretty good, very recent jack in the production but i think the songs wear it well, doja is still very charismatic, it all feels of a piece, in general it's better than i thought it'd be

the way she first started teasing this era back in march just to not release anything until august like WTF

the album is flopping because One More Time wasn't a single! There's no other possible explanation.

12.9M isn't terrible but also not great either. But either way charts aren't going to sway my opinion on this album, it's still her best. A shame the chart obsessed bozo's can't say the same 

 

It certainly has room to grow seeing as the album is a grower for lots of people.

Tbh that's a thing though, maybe cohesive isn't the right word but every song sounds identical for the most part and it causes me to not want to go back to any

Anyways, sucks that this is flopping but it kinda is what it is. There's no hits, hooks, melodies, earworms, nothing. Jealous Type is the only choice for a single and I'm not sure anything else will break through. People listen to Doja for those catchy songs and quirky beats, but there's none of that on this album at all outside of maybe 3 songs. 

Wishing this era the best, but the reception is not shocking to me.

 A lot of these songs sound the same tbh
