  1. Really hard to choose, so many classics on here I think my top 3 are Needs, Melatonin and Die A Little Bit
  2. This thread has "I could have gone pro if I didn't tear my ACL in high school!!" teas You're not some marketing genius or manager prodigy, you just seem very chart obsessed over someone who is in constant talks for headlining the Super Bowl, Coachella, etc. and has one of the biggest music brands of this century (Hannah Montana) under her belt. I think Miley is doing just fine considering that. Considering what type of songs are smashing right now, Bass Persuades is a breath of fresh air and a bop. As a pop music fan, I'm just happy there's something to bop to.
  3. Miley's voice is the brand. She has a very distinct tone. Rough around the edges, gruff. Can you really imagine Olivia Rodrigo, Selena Gomez, Sabrina Carpenter, Billie Eilish, Ariana Grande, etc. on this track with this look? I can't really. I can only see Gaga or Blackout Britney on this, which there was clearly inspiration from them anyways. This also sounds like Gimme What I Want, Midnight Sky, Walk of Fame, Every Girl You've Ever Loved, River… I feel you all might not like the song, which is fine, but the critiques are truly just off base and feel like regurgitated critiques of Miley from the Bangerz -> Dead Petz -> Younger Now eras without a second thought.
  4. Well, I liked it enough. KGB, Nicole Kidman, I'm The Man, Boys, Fantasize and Starving Artist were my faves. I do not care for Therapy, Hitachi and Ain't in LA at all. I think people are doing a little much on this album, I expected a lot worse based on the reception I saw here/on Twitter. I wasn't a huge fan of her EP so this was a surprise. I definitely hear the Ariana on these tracks, but it's not 2020s Ariana (well minus positions). It doesn't really give Eternal Sunshine and definitely not Petal, so I don't really see it as a conflict. Honestly I think she's more on the Tate McRae nachos but better.
  5. Don't get this critique when it sounds like Gimme What I Want, River and Walk of Fame. There is definitely signature sound here without literally copying and pasting the exact songs over and over. Even aesthetically it gives Can't Be Tamed, an iconic era from her. Shouldn't artists do that? Stick to a general theme and brand, with some evolution thrown in? Don't get what Miley is doing that isn't in line with that tbh
  6. Idk if this will smash but I think it can People saying the chorus isn't explosive… listen girls I love my loud gay ass pop music as much as the next gay but the chorus being understated is better for replay value. The chorus IS catchy and simple, the verses are more complex sonically which balances the song out. Again I'm not saying it'll smash for sure especially with the country era the US and other parts of the anglosphere are in, but the elements are there.
  7. ATRL not loving it oh miley your HIT is here I personally love this, the mix of Walk of Fame and Gimme What I Want was a perfect description
  8. But Angels Like You is one of Miley's most streamed songs (I think it's currently her most streamed daily but don't quote me), Plastic Hearts debuted with more sales, and Something Beautiful came after Flowers so expectations to succeed were a little higher End of the World is also one of her best songs, I love that song. PH and SB are far and beyond her best two albums imo but I feel this album may shake PH out of the top 2
  9. Tbh class consciousness is the biggest factor that'll move us out of that, but we have a lot of obstacles to overcome. Technology has a stranglehold on people and algorithms are set up by our psuedo-technofuedalist society to keep people from achieving that class consciousness. Not to mention public education, at least in the US, is in tatters; intentionally so. That being said, I think the billionaire class is overestimating their power a bit. They're accelerating too fast during this 2nd Trump admin and nothing speaks louder than empty wallets and bellies, and people are feeling the squeeze. I think the 2030s will bring a resurgence of intellectualism and unplugging from devices as technology becomes more taboo and defunct. That's the thing that these corporations ceded too quickly; innovation and improvement while also chasing profit. They've given up on the former to seek only the latter. People are noticing that products and technology aren't worth it anymore. Maybe it's wishful thinking but my hope is that the 2030s are a bit of a Renaissance because of the above factors. I don't think we'll return to woke 1.0 of the 2010s, but I think people will agree to disagree on a lot of cultural issues for the sake of focusing on bigger problems that actually matter. You might get whispers and looks for being queer but it will be taboo to actually speak out against it because it's just not pertinent to actual problems. Likewise, people will be more open with their religiosity and people will just turn the other cheek and let them be as we've had to do throughout all of history.
  10. I'm personally very excited and the Model/Actriz feature only makes me more excited considering the snippet Something Beautiful was her best work yet and people only don't like it cause it flopped.
  11. This thread reads as a purposeful misinterpretation of a very well established term to jump on a hate train and be shady and the doubling down when called out and corrected on the definition kinda proves it
  12. I don't eat beef in my diet atm, so I was chilling at first, but then I read that prions just have to come in contact with anything (meat or not) to infect you and kill you with 100% certainty and then I got worried all over again Someone can check me if that's not 100% true but I was too scared to research more about that at 2am on a Friday night.
  13. Biggest Black artist debut this century tbh, queen mother of all things
  14. Harris was resoundingly defeated in every presidential run she has made. 2020 was an embarrassment for her and 2024 was an uncontested primary where she was coronated to the nominated only to be, yet again, trounced in the general. AES won a primary where record numbers of AIPAC donations, endorsements for his opponent and even a fake Obama endorsement came out against him. If he loses to Rogers, he doesn't even have the full support of his party like Harris did, at least openly. How is that comparable to Harris's disastrous campaign where the electorate plainly said NO to her despite all the favors people threw at her, including running her against an incompetent opponent in Trump?
