I wish she wasn't yelling throughout the whole song. The whole essence of Jay Z's flow is that he's chill and laid back. And if you're gonna sample his song and copy his flow, you'd think somebody on her team would make note of that. But the song isn't bad ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

such a weird rollout of an album

 

'outside' needed a video. but it's clear she hates that song and the label forced her hand on what song to put on the album. hence the meltdowns on twitter a few months ago

How is it weird? She's been transparent about the process unlike many other artists. You'll be surprised how often this happens to many of our faves. I honestly love the transparency. It all leads up to more excitement and there's much more to look forward to on album release week. Also the song is DOPE in my opinion. I think she needed a record like this since all her stuff has been twerk music.

I don't think she'll dwell on this song for too long, she's filmed multiple videos and the album is almost a month away. The radio smash is just around the corner

At the end of the day this! She has much more in store but us that love hip hop we are being fed with this track

The MV is so good , but the song....i need more time

The main problem with the song is that it's missing a hook that ties it altogether. If she wanted to do an only verses type track (which she has done before excellently, see: Red Barz) then the delivery should be hype and entertaining at the very least. Sticking with the same laidback flow for 3 min can only get you so far before it gets drawn out. I see what she was going for here but someone should've let her know to make it a bit more spicy, or at the very least, catchy.

This is boring and dull. This is the lead-in to the album drop? Oof.

Go listen to Imaginary Players by Jay Z --she basically remade the song as it was. The chorus is a sample of Rene & Angela's "Imaginary Playmates".

 

This would've been more of a cute surprise to hear when the album dropped rather than now.

I think this is more of a chance for her to talk her **** but I do agree the rapping is mid lol. I love her though and I'm not a barb before yall come for me. I was waiting for a hook but this is just not that song. I do understand why this was released haha more of a chance for her to show her range 

The more you listen to the bars the harder they hit! I think yall are so used to cartoony overdramatic vocal noises that when someone raps in a calm flow it feels boring but this is true hip hop. If you are not a hip hop fan than obviously this one is not for you

I can see what she was trying to do, but she's not a skilled enough rapper to pull off a song like this
