I just love the fact that Katy perry stans are fighting for their lives to shade Britney and they are left with the nostalgia of a once #1 hit maker making safe disposable pop for the masses...and the masses are now saying NOOOO. Britney did not make safe moves which is why she was so controversial and stood out and her moments stood the test of time. Someone starting out making Baby one more time, eventually making Slave for you and Overprotected, then hitting them with Toxic and Everytime then It's Britney btch (started out as teen pop)/Piece of me and Blackout as a whole just to switch it up with Womanizer and 3 only to flip that into Criminal/Till the world ends and then serve a cult Work btch tea. THis doesn't even account for other songs that show versatility and shifting pop music as awhole. I'm glad she didn't make music that could pull sentences from a corny Hallmark card.

The industry made it clear that Justin and Xtina (booked them on a joint tour too) were meant to serve as blue eyed soul against Usher and Beyonce. Usher stomped with Confessions and Beyonce stepped on ha toes...and she LET her.

She could have been the counter to Britney's ex as the blue eyed soul of her generation. 1997- Her label tried and failed to launch her off of a soundtrack song. 1998 - Britney opens the floodgates revamping and remodernizing teen pop thanks to the adult blueprints of Madonna, Janet, Cher and Paula. 1999 - Christina debuts with a teen pop song she doesn't want to represent her but it's great to create a teen fanbase. 1999 - People are telling her to go more urban including Snoop Dogg. 2000 - She puts out a latin and xmas album. She had pockets of opportunities to own a throne. She was never going to outdo Britney as she didn't change the game. However, while people were blaming Beyonce for breaking up the girl group she was overexposed and disliked in 2001-2002 and then Jay z gave her street cred. Xtina could have put out a Back to basics album before Amy W or Beyonce went solo and she'd been seen as innovative. 2002 - Instead, she wanted to copy Pink using Linda Perry and was all over the place. While Stripped is iconic it was poorly timed. She's just an icon but what would have made her a legend: 1999 - C.A. minus I turn to Celine Dion's leftovers as a single.
