From what I gather, she and her label were not planning to put out a single and just let the fans decide, then Outside went viral and that was released and then she wanted to put this out herself (label wanted a pop song leading into the album).

 

I think Outside and IP are worth pre-release

Then album release with the pop song or have the GP decide. A mainstream song is going to have more longevity along with the album.

 

Having two urban hip hop hits leading in this year is good.

 

I have a feeling she also wanted to put out two solo songs as she might release future poppier songs with big. features for the remaining singles.

 

I think it might be a good idea to have the hype of the album and songs release week. It helped IOP keep streams steady which had Bartier Cardi released after Bodak Yellow.

Her doing lay back rap is so stupid, she is not suitable for this rap style. She should be glad she somehow pulled it off in Be Careful, but trying it again with a lead single and still so boring and predictable, you can't afford to **** up the 2nd album after this long ass album gap.

I like it, wish she picked something more commercial but I understand why she release this. Great for conversations and grammys

it's fine for an album track but what i'm getting frustrated with over her last few releases is you can pop into any part of the song and it sounds like any other part of the song, there is no journey, no buildup, no highs or lows its just the same cadence/beat/delivery through the entirety of the song so it's really hard as a listener to stay engaged.

Proved she is the queen of rap. 

 

 

Pretty good. Honestly we haven't had a song from Cardi that wasn't Money 7.0 in ages. It's not a masterpiece by any means but at least we have some variety which is what made her debut so infectious.

My only gripes are that it ends abruptly and the attempt at a chorus (the singing part of the sample) should have been way louder/prominent. 

 

It's a compelling listen and is bar after fire bar, but I couldn't tell you exactly how it goes off the rip, which lets me know this probably will peak decently with its debut but not much after.

 

At the same time, I really think dropping it is a smart play to show that the album will have depth.

 

Cardi defines Hip-POP artist and was probably one of the first main rap girls to usher in the era of "Rap girls being actual MPGs too". So, I get the appetite and need for another I Like It.

 

She says she's filming another vid of August 29th, so I imagine **that** is the big Pop focus track.

People in here saying Cardi isn't the kind of rapper to pull off this type of song are delusional. She is the only female rapper  out that has achieved two Top 10s in the last 2 years with a pure hip-hop song that doesn't rely on pop or R&B samples.  And she does that solo and without big features. The most pop-like song she has put out this decade was Bongos and even that wasn't even close to the type of sugary pop that her peers rely on to chart in the Top 20. This song doesn't even have a hook and it will no doubt chart higher than any other female rapper could with pure hip-hop and no hook. 
 

If there's someone else that can achieve her stats without pop and features, drop the names.

The more I listen the more the other verses hit too! Sleeper hit in my household! The plane bar is just top notch! That's how you FLEX 

This is really the new single??? I like it but it's just a filler album track, even Outside was a better single choice and she didn't want it to be released   

I'm confused.

 

It seems like she's alergic to pop hits though, this is why I wanted the Doja rumored colaboration to be true. Oh well

I was praying this was just a promo single but I just saw she released a video   Oh well maybe this is just her "Attention"  

I really liked this, she kinda shines on this type of beat.
