if a white artist made an R&B album as a tribute to their R&B influences and roots growing up but then was revealed in a scrapped interview dismissing the entire genre, is your reaction the same

well i'm looking forward to her cosplaying as a rockstar next and hearing about how much rock music has always been a huge influence to her and her identity

the narrative she was pushing around cowboy carter was that she's always been country

well that's interesting

listening to this with good headphones is another experience

the album keeps growing on me tbh kinda obsessed with freak

album didn't really click immediately for me like her others but there's still some great songs and it's growing on me love stay, big feelings, oh well and like i do i don't think leaning into the taylor swift singer-songwriter lane really suits her, album feels like it's missing the same level of vocal production, layering and big vocal moments that her others have. putting the focus on her lyrics doesn't have the same affect (to me) as focusing on her voice, bc her lyrics can be sort of clunky i think taking a break will be good for her and wishing her the best

some artists just put out quick little singles that burn out fast

idk if it's delusional and i don't want to jinx it but it feels like she could push 300k+

all three of those artists make very similar music with similar audiences and you think the algorithm is grouping them because of stan wars?

this era has been her most visually cohesive and conceptual since sweetener so that's exciting
