Ranking with essay (first listen):

1. 1989: Her most instant album, IWYW got stuck in my head on first listen (love Jack for that). There were couple of tracks which I didn't like much on first listen - AYHDWS, IKP but 1989 highs were really great.

2. Speak Now: Wow songwriting! Great melodies. Back to December felt like the best song of all time on first listen. Hated Innocent, still don't like it.

3. Reputation: First listen of DBM sent me to heaven, it's that good. Loved every song except Gorgeous, that song is so corny like ME!

4. Evermore: Loved it more than folklore on my first listen, I remember playing Cowboy like me all day, still my favorite track if this album.

5. Midnights: Her return to big pop sound. Track 1-6 all 10/10 then came question, I hated it. Track 8-12 again great, then came Mastermind, ugh.

6. Folklore: Totally different sound from Lover. I remember listening to it for the first time, first 9 track I really love then I got bored (evermore didn't have that problem because of repeated listening of folklore in months prior to evermore release).

7. Lover: Had low expectations & starting the album with IFTYE didn't help. But when Cruel Summer came, I was totally hooked but the album has multiple duds between excellent tracks, totally ruined the flow of album.

8. RED: I'm sorry, it felt underwhelming on first listen. Lack of cohesiveness, too many ups & downs (All too well -> 22) Only liked few tracks (Holy ground still one of her very best).

9. TLOAS: Only liked first 4 tracks, Cancelled! & title track. The lows are very low

10. TTPD: Standard was good but Anthology was so so boring, totally hated it.

I actually gave Showgirl a full listen the for the first time in many months yesterday, and thought of you!

If you were tasked with selecting 3 albums to add to the immortal tapestry of popular music from Taylor's discography, which ones would you add? Assume everything will be purged after this, so only the added albums will survive in memory and consciousness.

I think I would add:

1. 1989 (bombastic hits)

2. Folklore (storytelling)

3. Red (songwriter with melodic sensibilities)

Biggest losses: YBWM, Love Story, and Cruel Summer.

I was really tempted to put TTPD in place of Red, but I think that's just because I'm TTPD-pilled.

Would love to see others insights on this.

i mean first off the lyrics are obviously still sad just with upbeat production
but im kinda over the need for a classic track 5 anyways, just feels too forced atp.. especially with how happy she is now is she still gonna force a sad track 5 for TS13 just cause of cupcake swifties?
also i just want her to go back to simple yet effective songwriting like on Fearless - Speak Now - Red.

When the album first came out, I really hated it. At some point, I switched and really loved it. Now, I think it's a bit genius and a bit clunky.

I love the production and the almost satirical tone. Her face when she performed it live while singing, "'Cause we're….crazy" in Vancouver was priceless. I also like how verbose and conversational it is in general.

The seven bars of chocolate lyric doesn't bother me as much as it does other people, but I don't love it. What I truly cannot handle is the wedding ring lyric. The truly crazy thing to me about the song is that it was selected for track two, which is typically reserved for something instant. It clearly wasn't instant. Look at its total/daily streams despite its VIP placement on the tracklist. I think GAS?, Down Bad, or My Boy are much more obvious track 2 options. I understand that it's the title track, but that doesn't necessarily mean it needs to come early. It's not like the album is told in chronological order, either. I lowkey would have liked that as a concept, though. Still would've put GAS? ahead in the ordering.

i remember listening to the album the morning it came out, in the run up to it i'd been very "jack and arron again, this is going to be a bit tired" and actually this was the one where i was like "no this is going to be fine". it does have that weird run-on lyrical structure but so do a lot of songs on the album and i feel like if you were on board for midnights then that's fine, it's like a signature style for those projects that i got used to

but it's the sparkle of the synths and the big cascading melodies as it runs into the chorus that really makes the song, there's something really celebratory to it, and the ring line - i don't care? everyone says that thing about the ring line and actually "you take my ring off my middle finger and put it on the one" doesn't make any sense! it's fine to have that extra bit! glad i could clear that up for everyone smdh

I know this has been discussed, but I do hope someone on her team takes notice of Ruin The Friendship's continued success relative to most of the album. Such a great track that should be appreciated far more.

We don't know if it's the wedding (it could be the reception), but if it is the wedding, it's probably a decision driven by logistics and necessity. She's the most famous woman in the world whose guest list will be a LOT of high-profile people - where can they reasonably hold a wedding that is safe for her and her guests (I'm sure the bomb threats from the tour still haunt her, never mind all her stalkers); secretive enough that they won't be plagued by drones, wedding crashers, paparazzi, deranged fans, etc. all showing up to get a glimpse of her (an outdoor venue is most likely off the table); and that has appropriate accommodations nearby to house so many guests on the days before, on, and after the actual ceremony (so nothing too remote)?

I highly doubt MSG was on the list of her dream destinations for a wedding She's just the monster on the hill. And sure, other celebs have had pretty typical weddings without much incidence, but her fame is significantly more crippling than the likes of, for example, Dua and Callum (no shade).
