I'm tired of the hate train against Katy. Why do people keep picking on her? It's so unfair....... Even though her so-called friends drove her into becoming a rape victim and gossiped about her b

I don't mean this to drag her, but how can the same person who released Teenage Dream and Prism be okay with releasing this?

No one liked PRISM all that much though

I feel like there's great revisionism when it comes to Katy's peak. I was there and I remember people thinking PRISM was boring, bland, predictable and full of fillers. The reception to Roar and Uncle was also very lukewarm, at least from pop fans. Everyone was disappointed that this was what she gave after the Burning Baby Blue and funeral teasers. It's a solid/ok album to me, but I think we're kind of trying to create this narrative that there's a major creative fall from grace for Katy and I don't think that's really the case. She's been releasing mediocre, directionless music for most of her career (and I say that as a fan) and she just released another mediocre, directionless album

Not directing this to you personally, just a general observation.

This. She always had solid singles but her albums have always been mediocre. As for this one, not even the singles are good.

Haven't heard all of it, but what happened to Nirvana? :deadvision:

Sounded like it had so much potential and ended up being.... that:skull: Gurl, that's barely a song-

Roar, Dark Horse, Uncle, Legendary Lovers, WOA, Birthday are kind of universally loved. That's half of the album already, so I would say PRISM was a great album in hindsight. Ofc the initial reception to any Katy's album is always horrible

i love the album !!! From top to bottom

My only issue is how short the songs are and the lack of bridges. If Witness (an album from the streaming era) has complete bridges on every song, why not 143? Wonder is the only song that had a somewhat proper bridge.

I can't believe a song as bad as WW, Gimme Gimme, Gorgeous and Crush made it to the first half of the album

Wait, gimme gimme was trash but gorgeous is doing it for me

her career was killed by her not releasing Legendary Lovers and Walking on Air as singles:suburban:

The problem is that this is not mediocre. It's just bad.

Don't worry, I didn't take this personal, I'm just having a meltdown over how horrible this is and how disappointed I am. :skull:

On a serious not tho. How can anyone, even her fans, be okay with his?

And people in here saying, this is a 3/10. Nah, this is a 0/10. Not a single good song.

Let me listen to Never Really Over on loop instead. I need to sign off for today or my meltdown continues. :gaycat6:

And it's the best song for a reason

Like LIFETIMES would be sooooooo much better if there's a second verse, a bridge and major adlibs to build up the last chorus. A missed opportunity

Dear lord, all these songs go absolutely nowhere. They sound like fanmade extended versions of interludes

Girl they are absolutely not. All the pop stans thought Roar was cheesy and were streaming Sara Bareilles :toofunny2: We're all just rewriting history because it became a monster smash and classic, but we were not the ones who made it that. Everyone also thought Birthday was a lesser TD reject and the girls were up in ARMS when she announced that was going to be the 4th single instead of WoA. It's my favorite from that album but again, most people didn't think it was that great at the time. 99% sure Uncle also got a meh reaction and people were saying Thinking Of You and Wide Awake are much better and that she should stop promoting it.

I'm not saying she's always been as panned as she is now but reading these comments, it sounds like Katy fell from some super high pedestal but the truth is we've been calling the sis OUT for serving fodder for the better part of her career. Which makes her insistence on trying to cater to us all the more confusing :toofunny2:

Haters gonna hate but doesn't change the fact that the GP loved those songs; and pretty much everyone now loves those songs after putting their bias aside (which always happens to Katy's music). Like how HIH was PANNED upon arrival as well

That's why we pay no mind to any criticism towards Katy's music

Do we know whether and when the deluxe is being released on spotify?

I'm disappointed in the album. Some tracks like Lifetimes, Crush, Nirvana have potential but sound almost unfinished. The production on this whole album feels empty and lifeless, the choruses are rather weak, the lyrical value is mostly non-existent almost like ChatGPT wrote them, and the vocal production is grating at some points.

The only song that I like is I'm His He's Mine, since the VMA performance I haven't been able to get it out of my head. The album is mostly an improvement on Smile though, so she's going upwards again. Here's hoping the next album will be a return to form.
