Can Doja bounce back?

Featured Replies

After the negativity surrounding Scarlet and Vie flopping, can she make a comeback? What do you think?

She gives fans whiplash because of her unpredictability and constant waffling between wanting pop hits and going full rap. I loved Vie but it was a very odd direction for her to go.

With another album like Planet Her that's a good balance between styles she could be on top again. She's also really smart when it comes to TikTok in a way other artists aren't.

scarlet was and is her best record. i want her to go back to that sound and stay there

She's too messy, I think she can have another string of hits and a hit album but her auto-destructive nature will put her back in the same place right after somehow

Probably not to the level she was at during the Hot Pink/Planet Her eras, but she can still get the occasional hit when she releases good material.

I feel like she's being seen as pretty uncool at the moment, but I wouldn't count her out just yet.

She better. Get her ass off of twitch and back in the studio.

Definitely. You just have to listen or even look at Doja to see just how much she stands out among everyone in music. Scarlet was her expressing her feelings and Vie was her wanting to pay respects to her some of her influences. If she wanted to, she could make a hit project tomorrow, but it's obvious she goes where she wants now because she has her own passions even if sometimes they aren't commercially viable. Basically, Doja Cat as an artist is always going to be around because she's genuinely one of a kind and the industry sees that.

I think her fans were pretty turned off when she trashed anybody for liking Hot Pink so now anytime she does something even remotely pop it comes off disingenuous and, unfortunately for her, it's where her bag is

I kinda think she's in the same place Katy Perry was after Witness. Both alienated a lot of an already GP heavy fanbase, and put out subpar records that didn't really stick around like their previous releases. Doja still has a bit more cool factor than Katy in 2017, so if she doesn't take a long break and puts out a bubbly pop leaning single by summer she'll have another hit or two.

I wasn't turned off. She was fed up of being told by the people who are supposed to be her fans that she was "ugly" and "needed mental help" and so she was trying to get rid of those fans by giving them the same energy back.

when will yall realise that she does not have fans

I think a lot of artists are struggling in the trending soundscape atm (country, indie, folk, AC). I don't think Doja would ever think about making anything similar to Choosin Texas/Ordinary/idk Benson/Sombr whatever.

She is immensely talented and I think she'll find another moment for herself. Lowkey would be into a gaming adjacent album/8 bit music would match her current tik toks

Absolutely. Yall are so quick to write out these proven hitmakers over a flop moment in their career. ALL it takes is a bop that connects and she will have a hit. cm This has been said about so many popgirls like Miley, Karol G, Gaga, etc.

This discourse is moot on this site because y'all genuinely believe she declined because of her pop fluff bait tweet

Karol G,

yeah you ain't slick

Yea, she's a singles artist who is pretty flexible in what type of hit she can release so she definitely can bounce back. Whether she will is up to her.

Ofc she can but I feel like she or her label for some reason think that she has to poppify her music in order to get a hit when the hits from Scarlet proved that that wasn't the case. Hopefully she's done playing the game and just makes all the weird stuff she truly wants to. I'm manifesting she makes an alt-rock/rap album in the vein of Bottom ***** or those Say So performances circa pandemic

idk if youre trying to be shady or not but she has 40b streams and everyone was trying act like she was over just 3 months ago, only for her to bag her biggest hit yet. I aint trying to be slick, its facts. cm

Both Dua Lipa and Doja Cat will have massive returns to music watch heart2
