Xtina is a 00's relic Kesha and Robyn both have cult followings Kelly is and will always be the penultimate American idol Shakira is a Latin icon Adele & P!nk will always be a respected vocalists regardless of commercial success and will always be beloved by soccer moms Miley has a solid enough fanbase and celebrity to carry her career The last two are MAGA and i don't give af enough to even mention them So if we're not including Madonna, then Taylor is the current QoP

I hadn't seen this article back then, reflecting back RO definitely didn't meet their expectations. BUT I don't think they left completely disappointed, it just didn't make the impact I think they thought it would. I'm more interested in how her next era will turn out

I think it's important to distinguish that she was referring to the song, in which case yes, it is reductive and doesn't hold up well. But I get it had a purpose to serve and it did that superbly, but just sonically-speaking BTW as a song is indeed reductive

Well those songs never made the original release for a reason lol. Tacking them on years later was just as an incentive for fans to Buy the new version, so ofc they don't feel like they "fit"

Does her pitching down these songs in order to match her re-recorded vocals signal that she can no longer reach those high notes from 20 years ago

Two things can be true at once—plus if she does want to retire, getting rid of contractual obligations is in favor of that
