Imagine being in the label meeting where Taylor would've had to describe Cleveland! as intentionally bad with the goal of making people angry, right at the beginning of both and Oscar and Grammy campaign.

People justifying Cleveland as "rage bait" is absoluetly hilarious. Taylor's been toying with that concept for decades. The difference is that we used to get some of the best pop songs of the 21st century that were full of satirical commentary on her criticisms (Blank Space, LWYMMD, and even Anti-Hero -- to an extent). There's a very obvious regression stemming from having virtually nothing left to say. Taylor Swift, the brand, has eclipsed Taylor Swift, the artist, and thus the same concepts/themes that made her so successful are continuously reiterated, and now we're left with, "my h8rs are just jealous a REAL MAN picked ME and took me to OHIO!! xD".
