The saddest thing about The Life of a Showgirl is that I genuinely don't think Taylor will try this kind of pure commercial pop again for a very long time. What makes me think that is how hard she kept pushing this album. She kept insisting that it was amazing, fabulous, beautiful, etc. And instead of quietly moving on after the reception, she just kept going and even gave it a deluxe. My intuition is that this was one last push to get people to give Showgirl another chance, because she knows she won't make an album like this again for a while. I wouldn't be surprised if TS13 is country or something closer to folklore/evermore. After this reception, and especially after seeing how people reacted to a Max Martin-produced Taylor album, I think she's going to chase critical acclaim like hell next time.
