i'm sorry but whoever is in charge of her choreo now wants to set her up with these heavy, unflattering routines… got her up there doing chicken zumba dances nnn

I love that some of us can be candid/honest about ish like this.

Something for sure happened after FWT.

Between the breaks, the wear and tear, the changing creative teams, nature... it's been different for a minute.

She unquestionably went all-out for Homecoming (her last all-all-ALL out moment IMO) and definitely gave glimpses of Peak Bey in BIK (see: the choreo pockets of My Power, Water), but RWT - iconic as it was - was the most restrained I've ever seen her. Ever.

Obviously, we know about the leg injury, but I kinda found Fatima's spiel in the movie about her "not needing to do xyz" annoying af.

Yes, Bey has to evolve as a performer, but as some here have said, there are just better ways of doing it. Like, hello, she is....Beyonce. That should never be watered down or diluted.

The choreo, though good in places, can and should be better. Both by design and by execution. Outside of her own restrained-ness, I remember being so taken aback by how mid some of the choreo was at RWT, along with the blocks of nothing that ironically filled up the most choreo-requiring moments in the show (Cuff It, BMS, Virgo, Heated).

FYI, she definitely took it all up a notch as she got better and as the show got in her bones more. But still, I had....notes.

Also, on the positive side, while I preferred RWT overall, CCT saw her dial it up more. Probably because the leg was better. Some Hive won't know this, but Fatima didn't do that tour and it generally felt a bit more choreo/movement heavy (as a result?)

I have a hunch that she absolutely still has "all-out, full-out" in her, but she is currently on some "let me switch it up voluntarily before anything I'm doing starts to look late or not as good by comparison". Also, health and overall pacing (in a slight nod to the reality of what Fatima said).

All that said, I will actually be fine with this "new" Bey so long as she goes full-out in these ever-en route visuals. I love our girl, but I will never be a**-kissing Hive to ever excuse her for not using the benefits of cuts and edits. Going full out in 1 or 2 takes vs going full out for a gruelling 3 month tour are two different things. Her bag, obviously, ought to be the former not the latter.

With that, she should absolutely be using videos as her medium to keep the essence of "BEYONCE, the performer" alive and deliver a scaled-back, but still on-point version of that on the road.

One thing I'm really excited about with Rock is the fact that it will most likely call for more uptempo moments and also moments where, rather than choreo (if she's really wanting out of that) she can vibe out and make it more about electrifying energy than an 8-count. But, Giselle, pls, no standing still or, worse....sitting down (Virgo at RWT, some of that chair ish at CCT. No maam).

Does that mean they got caught and the disc drives recovered? I thought they were still on the loose.

If Beyonce cares about number 1 album streaks would she be releasing albums halfway through the tracking week?

Would she be putting albums on streaming only for days on Tidal and then making them available for purchase after days of online availability?

Does Beyonce even know she has a number 1 album streak?

rogue2

Like, are we following the same person? The person who performed a song at the Superbowl, debuted it in an unlisted video and gave it away for free for 2 and a half months to promote her husband's streaming service dies

But she won't compete with Ariana's LEAD SINGLE cause she might lose her ALBUM #1 Streak?

Both The Gift and EIL were sideprojects though. She doesnt play about her main releases. I agree with the middle and last part though!

Beyonce didnt treat The Gift like a side project. She treated it like a canonical work in her catalogue. She had writers camps, sourced talent, released five singles for it (Spirit, Mood 4 Eva, Brown Skin Girl, Already and Black Parade), recorded music videos for every project, partnered with Disney Plus for a film release, with ABC for a BTS documentary, released a Deluxe version of the project and bonus song with Black Parade, and was even planning a global stadium tour to support the project when covid struck.

The idea that The Gift is a side project is something we tell ourselves because we either didn't enjoy the project or don't respect its commercial performance. But the truth is, The Gift received quadruple the amount of care and attention from Team Beyonce that Renaissance and Cowboy Carter did.

If The Gift was a side, then this trilogy is an apertif.

She clearly didn't really care about EIL, though. That seemed to me like it was just filling a quota of some kind.

The Cuff It choreo for RWT was absolutely abysmal. I enjoyed BMS on RWT because her movement through the stage felt dynamic and interesting. Heated once altered was fine. But yeah, Cuff It was just horrendous. The viral dance was literally a two step - why couldn't they have her do a nice lil two step!?

Thankfully, Cuff It for CCT felt way cooler and groovier.

We joke but tbf Cowboy Carter and Renaissance both got decent promo. Texas Hold Em the single had billboards in London. The Verizon ad happened. The album cover was all over times square. The teaser video of her in the car... we'll likely see the same again for Act III.

Let's be real. The Gift is every bit of a studio album like Prince's Batman album. It was a studio album. The only reason it got relegated to a "soundtrack album" despite it not really being a soundtrack is its floppage. Had the album hit #1, we would have 0 problem claiming it's her seventh album. Because it is.

But it didn't. And counting it would have ruined her #1 streak. So, kick it to the curb, we did.

I'm thinking... Adele's son's name is Angelo!!

And Adele has a water theme in her songs often, like Set Fire to the Rain, Water Under the Bridge, River Lea and even on Easy On Me the lyrics mention washing hands and swimming.

I tried to google if "Angelo Waters" is some famous person to write a song about, but doesn't look like it.

And on May 1, this Twitter account said Adele would feat on Act III. I know it's hard to believe these type of rumors, but what if it's real?

And yesterday was Mother's Day. Would be cute if they planned to register the song to go with that.

This account is regularly wrong but I will say the concept of Angelo Waters being a codename for an Adele collab is fun to me.

That's all I'd want it to be, though. We have so many 'I am a mother' songs from Beyonce at this point (Bigger, Protector, My Rose, Blue, Spirit, Rise Up, God Made You Beautiful, etc.) and none of them have quite transcended greatness. (Altho Bigger and Protector are fab).

That and the fact she isn't on every track. But you're right.
