Ariana Grande - 'petal'
10/10 – i love that she experimented in this darker pop vibe. the instruments in the production, drew me in. my only issue is the lack of vocal showcasing. she spoiled us in past albums BUT if shes experimenting i cant expect the same formula. just like sweetener and positions, this album will become more appreciated over time. favs: like i do, petals, bunny hop, warning signs

did some research while u were away, and can confirm this term is mostly used in a derogatory and classist way. it is not exclusively a term of endearment. u can defend ur country, and also admit they have a history of using the term inappropriately.

Is the industry too quick to anoint black pop stars?
the difference is many black artists arent just crowned the next big thing before proving themselves. SZA Doja Cat Doechii Victoria Monet Muni Long Tyla Latto GloRilla Tems RAYE PinkPantheress Sexyy Red have all hustled for years and built their own niche fanbases prior to fame. when they finally a viral moment it was authentic and should be celebrated. in most cases we see the media and non-black folks branded them as the next beyoncé or rihanna bc society feels theres a cap on black artists flourishing. then if too many of them find success, we either have conversations like this or the media finding ways to pit them against eachother.

this is where it all started. then u continued whacking her. critics and industry ppl sometimes view the site, so we wanna avoid that language to reduce legal risk. i dont believe the mod who issued this will revoke it for the above reason. but wanted provide context.
