  1. You had the freedom to ignore them back then too. Just don't watch MTV. You can change the channel.
  2. If they didn't matter that much, they wouldn't be spending so much money on sets, talent, etc. It's a problem across the board. It's like there's a massive Netflixization of movies, music videos, TV ... all visual medium. Stripping them of all their color and charm and artistry. The last music video that truly wowed me was probably Taylor's "Look What You Made Me Do" and Gaga's "Abracadabra" and I'm not even a fan of them.

I saw a YouTube reaction of a white woman listening to Dangerously in Love for the "first time" (allegedly) and she was fake-crying over "Daddy" for f***k's sake. Clearly trying to appeal to Beyhive, not knowing we don't f**k with that song lol

Nah. It's the only 'real' hit from 4, so let's not be too mean to it lol. It extended the album's promo run.
  5. Modern music videos are high definition, some look crisp, some look expensive and high budget but somehow they still feel lacking, even compared to cheap music videos from the '90s and 2000s. I don't know what it is. Could it be the color grading? It just doesn't give that "excitement" that we used to have. I feel like they're just ... there. Something's missing and I don't really know what. With the B'Day and Loose anniversaries, I started watching videos from those albums (as well as Gwen Stefani's The Sweet Escape, Mariah Carey's The Emancipation of Mimi and Fergie's The Dutchess). So many of their videos are cheaply shot -- especially a huge bulk of B'Day -- but God damn, do the colors pop. There's art direction. There's a sense that these are real directors that know what they do and how to present it, even with constrained budgets. I mean, look at the 'high street' scenes on Mariah's Shake It Off. The stores are literally tarp. They feel like actual ... real ... music videos. Most music videos shot today just feel like a random Instagram reel or a content creator's YouTube skit even if they have bigger budgets.
  6. That's not allowed. He's a person I know in real life. But he does resemble Martin Johnson from Boys Like Girls quite heavily. 💀
  7. I see this too. Something about him being an everyday man type of guy makes him so likeable.
  8. Trust me, they are. Some of them are married and have kids, and all are very manly. I'm the only one who feels out of place and has to put up a tough act to match them. I feel so fraudulent. . . They're really his friends though. Because he's a musician.
  9. Ugh!!! I feel you. This happens to me too, but with p*rn stars. Haha. James Mogul is one of them. Goddamn he's not a looker but I WILL SUBMIT any time he wants me to.
  10. To certain circles, no. I have a bunch of friends in his community (metalheads) and I'm not out to them . . . yet. I soft-launched my leather kink in my FB/IG stories (just showing me wearing leather) And one time I was talking about a potential relationship, he asked me . . . "Is it a girl or...?" and then I said "it's a girl" (lie) So he suspects it I think
  11. I've always had the hots for my friend, but he's straight. He's not particularly handsome or anything. If I could describe him, he looks a lot like Martin Johnson from Boys Like Girls. 6'2", good body. He's kind of a jerk too. (He has a reputation of being like that, especially about 10 years ago lol) But every time he plays the drums . . . and I see him super sweaty. And those arms being tatted af. I JUST DIE. He's so f**king hot to me even if people don't see it. (And they're all straight, and I'm the only one who's gay . . . though I feel like he's suspecting that I'm gay lol) I don't know what it is. I've even had to pretend to liking metal & metalcore just so I can talk properly when he brings up music stuff. He loves screaming into the mic but I can't do that shouty thing metalheads do lol Do you have a similar experience?
