No, it aged pretty well.  I don't know anyone who liked it in 2022 and don't like it now.  

It didn't age badly. It was and still is a good album but nothing outstanding.

It's in the bottom 3 of her discography, but it was from launch, so it's not bad from "aging."

NO. Midnights is one of her best albums, I feel like Midnights is what TTPD wishes itself to be 

It was already starting to smell on release week. It's not bad but it's not memorable. It's too lofi / downtempo for me. Even Bejeweled, one of the poppiest song, doesn't have that soaring chorus. Karma clears though

It would have worked much better as an EP rather than an album. It has several good songs, but some other songs detract from the overall message and theming of the album so it doesn't feel very cohesive.

Yeah, this is a fair thing to say tbh.  It's definitely a really good album and I think it's held up, I appreciate that she stuck to a consistent soundscape on it and a few songs on it are some of her all timers (Anti-Hero for example).  The 3 AM edition songs are especially strong.

But overall, it never felt like a big statement of an album, a pivot or something she had to get out.  She said the album came about because her and Jack's partners were both away filming a movie and they wanted to make a full album together, so a lot of the content was mining her past (and in retrospect, troubles she was facing in her relationship at that point that she didn't fully reveal yet).  It felt a lot like she just wanted to put out a more commercial pop album to launch the tour off of, since the last albums (TVs not included) she put out were folklore/evermore, which some people thought couldn't sell a stadium tour.

 

One of the main reasons I prefer TTPD out of those 2 is because on TTPD, she had a LOT to say and there was a real arc to it.  It was less "what can I write about?" and more "I have to get this out"  There's more of a world to it.

This album is just there for me. It's perfectly good music but also kind of just blends into the background and won't particularly make you perk your head up in a "what is that great song I'm hearing?" kind of way.

lavender haze is one of her best songs

Out of her pure pop albums.

Midnights and rep, the night albums are better than the day album  1989 and Lover.

Yes. It's the only album in her discography I forget exists sometimes. A chop. 

 

Edit: The great war came on as I posted this and i forgot it was on Midnights. I never skip that one and midnight rain.

It was bad upon release 

The songs that were bops are still bops, the ones that were mid are still mid, the chops are still chops. 

Get over your hate boner for Jack Antonoff. It's some of Taylor's best work

It wasn't good to begin with, it's such a far cry from being a perfect pop bible like 1989 and really doesn't deserve to be the album she released during her imperial phase

Yes, except for Paris, one of her best songs ever.
