I mean... yes, but in a different way. She's a bigger artist than Sam and that kind of move would absolutely get backlash from older demographics that aren't into that stuff, but she obviously wouldn't face the homophobia and bigotry that Sam faced.

People spending this much time, energy and research to try and convince themselves that Taylor isn't actually massively successful....grass desperately needs to be touched. I'll never understand people who put this much energy into people they don't like.

Gracie. I'm not a fan but I can sense somewhat more artistry from her, and she wasn't pushed this hard off the bat. I'm really not sensing much depth with Stella. Like...she decided she wanted to do music and immediately got sessions with super talented songwriters and producers, got signed, got big opportunities and is currently being pushed so aggressively it's hard to ignore. Grace Enger, who co-wrote most of Ella's album, deserves the success she's getting

Ehh true, but she's still clearly had a true breakthrough as an artist this past year in the US that I could see as worthy of being awarded. I feel like the songs were bigger than her when she debuted, if that makes sense (especially in the US), but she's made more of a name for herself in the last year. I feel like Charli was more of a known name in 2014/2015 than Zara was in her debut, and she already had a Grammy nom for Fancy.

Water is wet! What's funny is the majority of 2025 was actually her "break" because she insisted on cramming the making of Showgirl during the European leg of her tour the year before for some reason....will be nice to hear her (hopefully) actually take her time on something again. Especially now that she's got a little bit of a chip on her shoulder with the Showgirl reception and will likely pivot. I'm predicting a 2027 release.

As the industry has changed and we now get to watch artists develop in real time and work their way towards a breakthrough...the name of this award makes less sense. It's rare for anyone to pop off right away.

I really don't think anyone will come close to Dolly but Julie Andrews and Stevie Nicks are up there for sure.

This still feels so abrupt and I can't wrap my head around it. Yeah she was 80 but I didn't see it coming so soon, ugh. The outpouring of love and tributes I've been seeing all day speaks volumes of not just how monumental of an artist she was, but how gracious of a person. She was the definition of leading with kindness and doing what was right in the world.

She wasn't talking about Showgirl though. She was talking about her writing in general throughout her career, and singled out a handful of songs/albums but didn't single out anything on Showgirl. I'm not expecting her to be like "yeah my last album was bad" ff but I think she's generally got a pulse on the larger feedback on her work (especially given the fact that she hasn't referenced or mentioned anything on the album outside of the stronger songs all year). She was really just talking about the duality and how she can have multiple sides of her writing...she's always had simple, silly songs like Shake It Off, WANEGBT, etc that don't display how strong of a songwriter she is, but also don't take away from it.

She was just inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame (the youngest inductee ever), was named one of the New York Times' 30 Greatest Living American Songwriters, is being inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame, and was invited to give this Grammys panel to talk about her songwriting process. You don't have to like her music, but I don't really get some of these reactions. It's pretty clear the industry holds her in high regard as a songwriter.

Absolutely not. I could see Ophelia having a shot at SOTY or ROTY though. The irony of one of her best singles coming from her worst album is wild.

And talking about "coping" in the same post where you lie and try to explain away her success, calling her "the most fraudulent artist to ever enter the music industry"....the irony is wild. None of her fans care as much about this song as you seem to. The amount of deep disdain you have for Taylor and spread every single day.... you know you have the ability to just...not engage with her, right?

Genuinely shocked tbh. The world lost a bright light and one of the best to ever do it. What an incredible legacy she's leaving.

The fumes she manages to elicit out of people never fails to amuse me I did think that that one quote was a bit cringy but the full 40 minute interview was excellent. Always interesting to hear a pro talk about their process.
