  1. Ariana and her label have the final say. Management, A&R reps (who mainly work on the albums themselves, not necessarily the videos) and production are all there to serve her and do the job they're hired to do. Sure, it's possible they could have raised concern to her, but we have no clue if that happened at all or what could have been said. If Ariana does have some kind of ED, her opinion of how she looks is not going to be rational. She might think she looks great...that's literally how people with EDs operate. Making her out to be some kind of villain isn't helping anyone.
  2. This is such a narrow, warped and uninformed view of how EDs actually work. Nobody is normalizing how she looks. But there's a difference between people sharing actual concern for her, and the people treating her like some kind of villain that the public has a duty to kick out of public view.
  3. Gonna say this again...can we not use this **** for stan wars when these women have flat out told us where they stand? Team Trump has used so many pop artists' music, and when some have made public statements about it, he just ended up using their songs more (see: Olivia and Sabrina). I don't think they need to give the Trump administration the attention they so desperately want when we already know what they stand for.
  4. Not that we needed proof, but it's pretty clear that a lot of people up in arms about this stuff were not arguing in good faith and just wanted some "moral" reason to lash her. They genuinely wanted her to be MAGA so badly and refused to hear out any other narrative. You'd think they'd be thrilled to see (another reminder of) the opposite but I guess not!
  5. I agree with this. And to be honest, I can understand why she took a step back due to her increased fame, being on tour and not wanting to say or do anything that might put her fans at risk (the Liverpool Taylor Swift dance event where children were killed and the very narrowly avoided attack in Austria, the post she made afterwards about not wanting to provoke people that would want to hurt her or her fans, and the footage in her docuseries of the aftermath). Once the Eras Tour started, she stopped posting about anything outside of her music career at all, and she used to be really active on social media beforehand. It’s a double edged sword. But I’m glad she did this because even though whatever she does will make headlines, she was able to take away Donald’s toys without giving him more attention than he deserves
  6. Love to see it I honestly didn't think it was possible without taking the song down entirely but happy to be proven wrong!
  7. Well I didn't think this was doable on TikTok but hello let's celebrate that!
  8. Trump acts like a child trying to get attention from Taylor and ATRL turns it into a Taylor hater circle jerk thread, I-
  9. Yes, you absolutely can. Making jokes is a pretty common coping mechanism. Body image struggles are not as black and white as you're implying.
  10. His new single is literally about how he is insecure about his body, and he's spoken about it before in other interviews. Someone insecure might defer their stylist and wear outfits that make them feel like a rockstar while still having some of that insecurity. Body image struggles aren't that black and white.
  11. It's not, if you read the full interview it was done over a month ago.
  12. I'm sorry but some of the replies in here are weird as ****. I get why there are things about him that are annoying or cringe or whatnot, but reading that whole interview (which was done over a month ago)....he's talked about how insecure he is about his body. He's gotten plenty of bandwagon hate and jokes about how he looks. He's not trying to sound cool, he's talking about how he struggles with it. He's 19 years old. I don't know why people can't be a little kinder about someone else's struggles with their own body and eating habits (and yes this absolutely goes for Ariana too, as we've all been discussing the last few days).
  13. Fearless. Pretty much everything was an improvement over the original (except maybe Forever & Always...even though her vocals are objectively better now, I love how pissed she sounds on the original) and I think the vault tracks are massively underrated. I'd say Red probably has the best vault tracks though...Nothing New, Forever Winter and ATW10MV are some of her all time best. Speak Now was honestly my biggest letdown. I think that was the first album where she really worked hard on improving her vocals, and she sounds great and passionate on the original. Her voice might be technically better now, but the vocal production and mixing just sounded lazy and messy...like you can literally hear the autotune in spots it wasn't needed in songs like Dear John. Maybe my expectations were in the gutter for 1989 TV but I think a lot of it holds up tbh! AYHTDWS, IWYW, SIO (even if it's a song I don't really listen to either way ), I Know Places, and YAIL all surpassed the originals for me. I think the biggest reason it gets a bad rap is because the other singles were done so dirty. I'm excited for the debut re-recording because I'm sure that's going to be an all around improvement. I would have been interested to hear rep....LWYMMD sounded messy but I honestly thought this sounded better than the original
  14. I genuinely don't understand how an artist like her, who has a majority LGBTQ+ fanbase, can turn out to be...this. Is it that hard to be a decent person?
  15. Oof. Even though he did some awful stuff, I wouldn't wish this kind of thing on anyone and believe people are worthy of redemption. Also the fact that he's a father....I hope he gets the help he needs.
  16. But at the end of the day, they're representing her and aren't going to make unauthorized statements on their own behalf that didn't come from her. They gave us the truth, which is that the scrutiny has gotten to her and made her want to take a step back. We don't really know the details of what she might be going through.
  17. Do you think they can just force her to do that though? It's not that easy. A lot of the concern out there is genuine, sure, but there is a lot of harassment going on too (getting a random unhelpful community note added to her team IG account's post as just one example).
  18. I think this is probably a good thing overall and I hope she takes all the time she needs. I also hope this doesn't vindicate the "activists" online and make them think harassing someone suspected of an ED is the right thing to do. The general conversation and (genuine) concern about it is inevitable, but people have been taking it way too far. There is nothing strangers can do to help someone in a situation like this. It's not even that easy for people that actually know the person.
  19. It's all very tricky and unfortunate...the discourse about it isn't helping Ariana obviously, and none of us know for sure exactly what's going on, but it's also impossible to ignore at this point. I couldn't finish the Petal video because I found it pretty disturbing...both with how she looked, the way she was flaunting it, and the "she could lose a few pounds" bit, which really made me feel icky about it all. I just hope she gets help and I hope this can be somewhat of a learning experience for society on how we talk about EDs. I will say, I'm side-eyeing Republic/people on her team a bit for giving the green light on this video.
  20. True I always knew stan twitter was trash, but I don't often see this side of twitter and...yikes.
  21. Good on her The replies to her tweet are insane, what's wrong with people
  22. I do like it, and I like the sound she's going for, but it just feels like it needed more time in the oven which is frustrating. Is it weird that Magic Metal Montana is maybe my favorite
