What a ridiculous take. Fame doesn't somehow cancel out a person's ability to be hurt, nor does it justify cruelty. We celebrate artists for being honest about love, grief, mental health etc, yet the moment they open up about how fame has affected them, they're told to stop complaining because they "signed up for it." Madonna, Taylor, and Ariana have all been subjected to an all-consuming level of scrutiny over the years. Madonna has always projected an unapologetic image, but watch her Billboard Woman of the Year speech and you'll realize just how deeply the backlash she endured throughout her career (e.g. the Erotica era) affected her. Even decades later, revisiting that period of her life brought her to tears. Britney's story should have taught us something. Instead, we're still dismissing artists' experiences the moment they admit that fame has come at a cost. Let's allow artists to be vulnerable when they talk about the struggles that come with fame instead of invalidating their experiences simply because they're public figures.

It's bittersweet to think about how excited we all were for this album, Ariana included, only for everything to turn so sour so quickly. But I am sure that these final tour dates, if they go ahead, will become an opportunity to celebrate her, make her feel appreciated, and give her the gentle send-off she deserves
