Yes. Not only are they the last successful Disney gen, but they also outdid the generation that came before them (Hilary, Raven). They were more focused in music though, which also helped. At least 2/3 had passion (and talent) for it too, whereas those who came before them stopped releasing music and fell off the radar rather soon.

Context is everything. Joke was tasteless but still a joke between two really good friends (who are still very good friends). Twisting this into a SA story does more harm than good to actual SA cases. Not to mention that Demi herself is a SA victim. Neither are respected in the music industry. Demi, however, is known for her vocals and that puts her above Selena in terms of respectability imo. There's a reason Demi got nominated with Confident over Selena's Revival despite Selena's success at the time. Demi has been praised by legends and paired with vocalists and respected artists. You can mock her all you want but she is at least a respected vocalist.

I just came across a video of a guy talking about Grammy snubs and it made me think of this. What has been a Grammy snub that shocked you? Personally, I'm still surprised Demi Lovato's Sober or Skyscraper didn't get a single nomination back then. Not even a pity nom. I can get Skyscraper because she was too close to Disney at the time but definitely not Sober. If any other artist had released a song like those and with such a backstory, they would've been on lock for at least a nom.
