Why do people engage with artists they don't like . I couldn't imagine camping in a Bieber thread and keeping up with his every move... I just ignore him We must pray for the victims of Taylor Swift

This video! So iconic. STRAIGHT into the canon. It's giving Blank Space and Wildest Dreams levels of memorable! The implication that Joe murdered her! rip Get his ass!

i feel you! patient zero has been slaying me so hard jonny5

what an exquisite song. my god

people wanting taylor to do "experimental" music and play with her art and then can't even handle a slightly unconventional spoken bridge…….

like, let's be serious

a bridge can be unconventional & great

but that's not what we have here

The fanbase that can't appreciate art like closure, you're so right sis clap3

Ttpd had so much out of left field production choices with different structures and tempo changes midway through or towards the end of the songs but nobody appreciated that either. Its giving killah with our base chick3

The bridge is actually fine IF the very first long ass line was reworked or cut down in some way.

you can experiment and make good music btw, people didn't hate the question…? bridge as much as this because it was executed well!

this bridge is just horrific word vomit that sounds messy af yall have to stop lying to yourselves

i look in people's windows & it's nice to have a friend were pretty interesting

This user is the perfect example of the parasocial weirdos I'm talking about. These people actually believe Taylor is saying Joe tried to kill her because of the video. They don't take her art seriously and only focus on the men

Nobody's saying that rip My point was completely divorced from Patient Zero & more about how people obsess over Joe and credit him for ghostwriting Folklore, which I believe to be insane & misogynistic

Getting into Patient Zero tho, the point about how he "tried to kill her" is a metaphor. We know from TTPD, Midnights, & random earlier songs that she felt trapped in that relationship & it was a melancholic, isolating experience. + Taylor uses the same death metaphor in You're Losing Me and So Long London. I don't think it's so parasocial to connect those dots and see recurring themes/ideas/events in her work, since she prides herself in storytelling. None of her exes cross my mind outside of the abstracted ideas of them in songs

bjork makes sh*t music and y'all praise it for being unconventional and experimental all the time just cause it's "different". we have to start being serious with ourselves…

this

she is always playing its safe. And the moment some unconventional melody or lyric purposeful done to translate the message of the song and they are screaming , crying and throwing rocks already lol

do you think these critical receptions will end Taylor's current hyper productivity era? ugh I would hate that if it happens that way.

No, the last time the critics and hate was this loud, we had rep -> lover - > folklore -> evermore in the span of three years. People forgot that the standard version of TLOAS was written in summer 2024, two years ago.

that just like isn't true at all… you're over here defending TLOAS like your life depends on it so obviously you are not the target audience that recognises the beauty of bjork's work. safe music is not the best type of music, and there can be good and bad generic pop music. miley cyrus' dead pets' was very experimental and is one of the most panned albums of all time so what is your point? and that isn't a dig at showgirl or you, you're just clearly very ignorant to bjork's genre of music and literally nothing will change your mind because you just see a swiftie spamming a clip of pluto and choose to hate everything you're unfamiliar with

experimenting doesn't mean you're doing bjork's pluto, i promise you nobody wants to hear that from taylor… it just means taking risks and trying unconventional things. sure maybe for you patient zero's bridge is experimental, but it just wasn't executed well period. and taylor 100% has the ability to experiment while making great music

Is it wild for me to think Babylon has some proper HAC / AC hit potential?

Like if she has nothing coming along I would very much love Babylon to be sent to both radio formats and maybe for her to direct a mv where she isnt even in it if she wants. Something low key. It's like an adult Ruin the Friendship (not that RTF is immature...more like it was a reflection of the past whereas Babylon is more so observations and lessons being passed on).

midnight rain experimented with vocal production and everyone loved that song. question…? had a similar bridge structure to patient zero but was executed so much better and i never see anybody hate on that part specifically. closure experimented with production and i dont see anybody hate on that song besides the max martin swifties

and in general when people say they want taylor to experiment, they dont want her to go make brat. they want her to try something different. 1989 was experimental for her and so was folklore. that's all what people are asking, for her to try new things, and considering most of you beg for fresh producers you want her to experiment too

why she is becoming a AM artist like the RnB girl and Beyonce ? Seem like she is doing much better overthere comapre to Spotify

I think so too, it was one of her most instant songs for me ever. It could be her Cat's In The Cradle

I really don't see what is so wrong with Patient Zero's bridge. It's a spoken word bridge so what? It worked on We are never ever getting back together and shake it off and it clearly works here as well. It is perfectly fine.

if anything this will fuel her, she has been always been competitive.

But with the married and maybe kids on the way she might be like 2016 and hide away, f this i will be focus on my personal life.

Now she seem to navigate and understand the hate well and most importantly her works will be appreciate in the long run compare to initial reaction. Its a pattern at this point.

The rest of the song is so sparse, the verses and pre chorus are so minimal and slow melodically while the chorus is wordy asf and that contrast is why the chorus is so impactful when it hits. The bridge should have followed suit as a "break" after the chorus instead of being so aggressive/wordy

cuz AM has no payola, at least next to none comparing to Spotify.

Both Babylon and I Knew It I Knew You (magic song holy ****) makes me hopeful for ts13. Call me delulu but I see another acclaimed pivot in her horizon

I'm sad we didn't get ts20 and I don't think it can happen anymore if the next album is coming fall 2027. This deluxe really was unnecessary

Actually, Patient Zero gives me hope that she can experiment again!

The strings and attempt at rhythmic flow is promising.
