the drums in Babylon elevated the song for me. if its not there, its gonna sound like another champagne problem esque song. the drums gives it the passage of time effect for the story telling and make it like a sad bop which is kinda rare in her discography tbh.

BABYLON is basically telling the life story of a man who is constitutionally incapable of appreciating what he has while he has it. He keeps believing fulfillment exists somewhere else: outside his hometown, higher up the career ladder, with more money, more freedom, more women, more status. Only after things disappear does he recognize that the supposedly ordinary life he kept trying to escape was actually his "Babylon", his lost magnificent city.
