Yeah, I'm kind of accepting that people are just going to have a pile on with it, pretend context/nuance doesn't exist and not exactly argue in good faith. That said, it's obviously bad he was there, and looks bad on their part. I still do think there's a good chance they didn't know of the ICE connection (his job title is technically the chair of an engineering firm), and a very good chance Taylor hasn't even met him. But they could have done some background checks on this stuff to prevent this from happening. That's what happens when you make a guest list this big (although inviting childhood friends' families is pretty customary to the weddings I've gone to so yeah).

there are so many things on ATRL where you think that, yes, there's something that we could talk about here that might be interesting but actually it will have to be turned into a stan war by the worst people on the internet even if the tankies don't get at it and call for everyone to be executed and maybe we shouldn't bother

And when you try to tell them "So actually...he is not an 'ICE contractor' and doesn't 'operate an ICE facility', he works for an engineering firm that was given a contract with the federal government (not tied to the current administration), to carry out duties with thousands of their contacts, including with ICE, which has always existed", they refuse to hear it. They want this to be as bad as possible.

*Again, not saying that someone like that is innocent of wrongdoing and I personally could never work for a company that does dealings like that, but I digress.

Her PR team needs to be fired. Doing basic background checks is their work.

It is! And I know it shouldn't get to me, but it does bother me because I love talking pop culture/pop music, and it totally ruins a place meant for it when nobody can be rational about this stuff. And I'm not even just talking about this thing with Taylor, but similarly with the Beyonce/Ivanka Trump thing....people want to willfully ignore the important nuances/context of a situation that should really elicit more of a "oof, that's not a good look" "disappointing to see this" than some of the mess that's happening. OTHs are STILL convinced hating her online will destroy her career, which is beyond stupid because it hasn't worked for over 10 years. At some point they need to grow up and wonder what's wrong in their own lives because this obsession and delusion is NOT healthy.

And as i've already said you can only be cancelled by your own fanbase, never by haters. You'd think terminally online people would've realized that by this point

tbh i expect most people won't notice? anything that inspires a lot of comment in the terminally online is usually just ignored by everyone else, they'll just think it's a big celeb wedding and want to see the dresses. i don't really believe anything that happens in stan culture really moves the dial and esp not for someone as big as taylor, if it wasn't this then the OTHs would just find something else to be mad at and no one would care about that either

Does anyone know if the sister-in-law of Jared Kushner actually attended the wedding or if it was just a sheer coincidence/photo-op ? Bc I am seeing inconclusive and contradicting headlines on social media. If TMZ is right that they 'buried the hatchet' that makes me wonder why Karlie was attending Eras with us plebians (jk) but maybe they reconciled after that appearance
