Say what you want, but this whole spectacle is really the stuff of legends. It's giving Michael Jackson, for better or worse. The guest list alone will a topic of discussion for years, all the lore this event will bring…

The entire global media making this a "Trump vs. Taylor" battle (even if wrong) is also just so iconic and nothing but cements Taylor as the most famous woman on earth.

Maybe I'm just generally the type of person to give others the benefit of the doubt, but I find it entirely possible that it just wasn't on anyone's radar that Travis' friend's dad is a board member of a company that has a contract with ICE… Even if I also believe he should be dead and buried.

@PenguinTim & @MissedTheTrain any chance one of you has the ability to change a thread owner? Somehow I'm the owner of a thread that was split out from the wedding thread about the dude who is an exec on a gov contractor that inherited a detention facility. I didn't ask for this and really don't like that it happened.

like seriously was she supposed to know the background of the 1000+ guests herself? its probably just travis adding him to the guest list

I think it's completely fair to be outraged at ICE for the entirety of the current Trump administration. It's abhorrent and borderline crimes against humanity for a lot of the actions that they have undertaken since the last election.

However, I do not think it's fair to paint the executive chair of a largely engineering service provider for the US Government who is going to continue operating past this current administration as the "ICE Executive". They are tasked with design and transportation logistics for a facility, they are not dictating how the government behaves. It feels like a low thing to pull into Stan wars to say that the head of a board for a company that has over a thousand active contracts with the Department of Defense and other government entities is a deplorable person for having a contract that was transferred to them after the prior contractor was not meeting expectations. I understand this isn't going to be everyone's view, and that having this contract is enough for some to condemn, but being a gov contractor for engineering services does not equal being an ICE Executive in my book. That's equivalent to saying you have one pair of generic flip flops in your wardrobe of all your clothes and shoes that was made for cheap in a children's sweat shop, so therefore you champion extortion of child labor. Odds are you are not aware of the origin of the flip flops that you picked up for a beach day.

You’re right. I guess reading that just made me feel disgusted and left a bad taste in my mouth. This will all go away in a week though.

I won’t stop supporting her music because of this, but I just wish they were smart enough to be more careful next time. But hey, hopefully there won’t be a next time
