It's also always been funny to me that "Fortnight" follows the album about "13 sleepless nights".

I recently saw yet another theory that suggest that against popular belief, Fortnight is about Toe and not Ratty. Mainly because of the line "I took the miracle move-on drug, the effects were temporary" that is suggested to be about Matty, and "no one here's to blame, but what about you're quiet treason" that is a lot more reminiscing of So Long London than Smallest Man. Unsure how I feel about it, but food for thoughts.

Oh trust me I agree, the song has absolutely no business being on TTPD. But I love it so so so much. I need an album in that sonic landscape.

And I'm on the team that The Alchemy is about Ratty.

Lovee this concept. I like how you cut a lot of The Anthology and put it back in the main tracklist. I should actually try making a Spotify playlist and see how it works

I've always held firm that Fortnight is a Ratty song but who knows with this woman. Lol

I do think sometimes she might just throw a line out which acts as a bit of a curveball to intentionally throw us off the scent - maybe that's to protect her sanity (similar to Question)? Who knows…

I also wish Fortnight got a proper 80's themed video which involved her murdering her boring ass husband and eloping with a new love that ultimately ends up ending in the disaster… the video we have is gorgeous but it acts as a visual for the entire TTPD project rather than the actual song.

I'd be definitely be open to a soft-rock sound from Taylor but So High School is just a bit too laid back for me… if she's going to explore that path then I'd like something that feels brighter and catchier.

And for the record - at least it feels more inline with the records soundscape than Broken Heart.

I honestly think it's true that many songs are about multiple muses. The Alchemy is the most obvious example IMO. It's clearly meant to evoke Travis; she even sang it at a show he attended. But there are lyrics that make no sense in that context. Half the song is about returning and getting something right. That is much more in line with Matty.

I think the album is undeniably primarily about Matty, but I think Taylor's music is more "inspired by true events" than totally diaristic. I think that's actually been true from the beginning. She romanticizes her own life, drawing from real experiences but editing them when she can craft a better story.

People need to understand that a large portion of TTPD being about Matty isn't unusual: the worst breakups are those in relationships that are just starting out, when you're in the midst of passion and everything happens suddenly. With Joe, she probably suffered more, but instead of a peak of suffering and fatal upheaval, it was a slow blow, allowing her to heal and accept the end of the relationship before it even officially ended.
