Carly Rae Jepsen - "Motivation"
This has continued to grow on me immensely over the weekend.. A simple chorus lyric over a house/club beat is a winning formula if done well... (see We Found Love for the best example)

Taylor Swift
I'm happy some of you girls are finding some nice things to say about Showgirl… but I think we can all agree it's a far cry from what we know she's capable of.

Carly Rae Jepsen - 'Day and Night'
I genuinely like Motivation. Like it's a solid 8 for me. I think it will grow on people with time… there's something very sentimental about the chorus.

Taylor Swift teases something, initials are being spotted
Whilst I agree she's oversaturated right now… I still think it would be nice to see the original project through to the end… even if she owns her masters. I suspect this is more than likely Debut related (the green… it also looks like some sort of sash/ribbon to me) I think Rep is more than likely going to come next year. I will say this, her Graphic Designers are frightfully inadequate given that she's the biggest popstar on Earth.

Taylor Swift
The hate TTPD (title track) received was so horribly unwarranted… it remains a beautiful track. I always got a Fleetwood Mac vibe from it… particularly the production.

Hayden Panettiere dead at 36
What horrible news to wake up to. I loved her work in Heroes and Until Dawn (both excellent performances). I knew Hayden had troubles but didn't realise quite how bad they were until reading this thread… her ex sounds like a monster. Feeling absolutely awful for her child. RIP.

Why does Ellie Goulding suck now?
To each their own. She's got her fair share of "bad" pop… there's plenty of that on Haylcon Days and Delirium - amongst a few other rather terrible singles - but the more experimental sound which she tapped into on the original Halcyon only really worked for that project… (for me) Brightest Blue was ambitious but ended being incredibly boring… I think we're getting more of that with I Know Too Much.

Why does Ellie Goulding suck now?
Yeah nothing from the new album is particularly good but Higher Than Heaven came out in 2023 and that's very solid pop album… it's basically a sharper, more polished version of Delirium. Midnight Dreams, By The End of The Night, Let It Die, Taste Like You, the title track etc… there's loads of great tracks on that record. I'd say Ellie is at her best when she's not trying too hard to be experimental… she's top of her game when she's crafting straight-forward pop songs.

Will "Die with a Smile" be Gaga's big final hit?
ARTPOP really traumatised us because I was CONVINCED Shallow was the last big hurrah Gaga was going to be afforded and since then we've had a very respectable roster of hits… Always Remember Us This Way, Rain On Me, Bloody Mary, Die With A Smile and Abracadabra… all across eight years post Shallow. She's nearly twenty years into her career… the fact she's still able to score Abracadabra sized hits is impressive in and of itself… I think she's far from finished… and with the right songs and decisions she can definitely continue to score hits.

Rolling Stone: "Why is everyone scared of Hasan Piker?"
Wasn't the dog stuff debunked or massively over-exaggerated? I like Hassan… he's basically a Joe Rogan for the left and for better or worse… we need one.

Carly Rae Jepsen - "Don't Leave Me on the Dance Floor"
Now why are we fighting up in here? People are allowed to evolve and try new things - Carly has done that consistently with her last few releases… that being said she's an online pop-phenomenon largely thanks to the genius that is Emotion… none of her subsequent releases have come close to the impact that particular record had… and a lot of her current status/success rests on the goodwill that came from that era… fans wanting "more of the same" makes complete and total sense - its her magnum opus for a reason. I think Day & Night brings us the best of both worlds… the "Day" side allows her to experiment and try some new things… whilst "Night" is an ode to those that love the classic Carly Rae sound - we literally get best of both worlds…

Minnie Driver recovering after "really bad car accident" in France
Met her once when I was an extra in a film she was shooting in South Wales - she was very pleasant! Wishing her a speedy recovery

Carly Rae Jepsen - "Don't Leave Me on the Dance Floor"
OUT IN NEW ZEALAND. As suspected… it's excellent. VPN girlies. Get in.

Carly Rae Jepsen - "Don't Leave Me on the Dance Floor"
I would think so given that's been the case with both On Wires and After All… which means the song is out in seven minutes in New Zealand!

Update: Kim Petras clarifies Tate/Taylor/sombr tweet following backlash
For what it's worth Kim is a fan of Taylor's music and spoke quite extensively on how much she loves Folklore and Evermore just last month…

Rihanna is currently recording new music, according to A$AP Rocky
Let me be delusional for a second and just pretend she's actually going to drop something… Considering this woman has had OVER A DECADE to make this album it better be the best thing she's put out by a country mile… I honestly think she could do a Drake and drop three separate projects all at once. One that's Hip/Hop and R&B leaning… One that's Dance Pop and EDM leaning… And the final one is reggae leaning or maybe focusses on ballads… ? She has some making up to do.

Tate addresses MAGA rumors: "I think it's pretty obvious what kind of person I am."
Oh Tate. I don't think she wants to be seen as a role model or a political activist… and that's fine, she's an entertainer. But I do think it's interesting that she's the only big name Gen Z pop girl to stay mute on the current administration. It's not like she's going to loose her audience by saying something along the lines of "Trump = bad"…

Sensitive: Ariana and Karen Carpenter Comparisons
Theres nothing we can do about it. And for the most part… people with EDs ENJOY it when you point out how thin/frail/poorly they look. It's basically affirmation! It's twisted but the only people can provide the help are those who are closest to her.

Xtina rumored to receive Video Vanguard Award
God the VMA's are really going to be dead and gone within the next decade. I mean… I'm not suggesting Christina hasn't made an impact on pop culture but her career as a big name pop-star has been dormant for sixteen years at this point… and her videography really isn't anything special. Don't come for me fighters - I actually purchased Bionic and Lotus!
