Now sis - Style literally won the last discography rate we had on ATRL… it's largely regarded as a pop masterpiece. And Cruel Summer blew up and became a hit three years after it came out because it's that good. You might not personally connect with them but those are two very special songs in Taylor's catalog.

Girl you're going to be tagged endlessly for the rest of your ATRL days… But still… always nice to have another insider.

Please for the love of God fire your graphic designer Taylor… this is awful. A gorgeous photoshoot absolutely ruined by hideous typography.

@Timeless sis downvoting everyone who says something even vaguely negative about Showgirl is not it.

Just expanding on what @Incandescent Glow said a few pages ago… I think it's a real blessing we hold our fave to a high standard because we know what she's capable of… Blank Space, Style, Cruel Summer etc - these are some of the best pop songs of the 21st century - she's so skilled at crafting a perfect pop song so for all that talent and skill to be absent on Showgirl was profoundly confusing… as a result I find analysing Showgirl far more interesting than listening to the actual music. And ofc it's important to separate the good-faith constructive criticism from the people that will dislike anything she puts out simply because she's Taylor Swift… Still, I'll still be waking up at the ungodly hour of 5am to listen and I really hope we get something worthwhile.

Well… there we have it. Encore Edition with four new songs. I'm still hopeful that debut TV gets a moment to shine before the year closes out.

Not for me sadly. the dick line on the chorus completely takes me out of the song. I tried very hard to get used to it and… yeah it just never stuck. I think if she saved it for a moment on the bridge (when she goes into "evil mafia boss" mode) it could have worked. And taking the Charli drama out of the equation.,. I think AR is a poor track outside of the bridge. Oh well. Onwards and upwards!

The Fate of Ophelia - 8.5 Run the Friendship - 8 Elizabeth Taylor - 7 Father Figure - 6.5 Honey - 6.5 Opalite - 6 Wood - 6 The Life of a Showgirl - 5.5 Wish List - 5 Actually Romantic - 2 Cancelled - 1 Eldest Daughter - 0 Wood and Father Figure are actually pretty decent tracks but the writing really let them down… especially the former. I still think the only real moment of greatness here is Ophelia… and that's not really changed since Day 1.

So it's looking likelier and likelier to be a Showgirl re-release… what a scream. She really saw the backlash and thought "f*ck it - these ungrateful rats are getting more terrible pop music" I kinda take my hat off to her for standing by the art given the tsunami of hate this album has received from virtually every corner of the internet.

Imagine it's a visual album for Showgirl. The concept of Eldest Daughter getting a music video over Cruel Summer.

Well… we'll know by the end of the week. Whatever it is, let's just hope we'll get quality music.

I think that remains to be seen. SNL UK aired last night and made fun of him all night (deservedly). Plus his ticket prices dropped to like $36 on re-sale so sales have absolutely slowed down… plus hasn't he lost like 300,000 Instagram followers? We'll see the actual impact when his next era starts… but plenty of people (especially young people/Gen Z) are going to think of him as a spineless coward and a genocide denier going forward.

Matt is a well respected influencer and has a huge following online… and he's taken pretty seriously by a lot of full-time political commentators… Engage with the content… watch a video essay… he's driven by progressive politics but often his content intersects with popular culture… (hence the P!nk commentary) most of his takes ring true for a lot of progressives or people who have left-leaning politics. I get that you want to defend your fave but she's done wrong… people are free to criticise her.

We should make space to discuss both. Obviously. However - the account tagged in the OP belongs to a pretty detestable individual who is vehemently Pro-Israel. Let's not give him any attention…
