Some of the comments here have echoes of bitter Madonna stans when Gaga was picking up steam in the early 2010's - what was her imperial phase was kind of bogged down by constant comparisons and mean spirited comments… it became exhausting after a time.

Stans (of any artist) are generally insufferable but an artist should not be defined by a few chronically online bad apples.

We all know some pockets of our own fandom are pretty dark - comes with the territory with big artists and there's nobody bigger than Taylor.

Folklore has tons of great moments, but I think "cowboy like me" is one of her best written songs and peaks harder than most of folklore. The storytelling is outstanding. Can these two grifters trust each other to make it work when they cross paths and attempt real love?

Then these famous lines in the song:

"Now you hang from my lips like the Gardens of Babylon/ with your boots beneath my bed/ forever is the sweetest con"

So many different interpretations of these lines. I believe it is the two con artists pulling off the greatest con of their lives, finding actual love.

Then she puts this peak melody on top of it. So good.

After Debut TV & TS13 being more like triumphant anthemic albums celebrating her career (debut tv through a retrospective lense of her debut album and TS13 by celebrating all different facets of her artistic legacy) I think we are in for another confrontational record a la Reputation (not sonically speaking but packaging and imaging wise). I know Rep ultimately was a love album instead of a total media clapback album BUT there were moments directly addressing things and the marketing of the record was certainly aimed at owning the things people said about her and flipping them into something iconic like the snake gate etc. I think TS14 should capture that fighting spirit in Taylor again and talk about the sexism of the industry, some of the tabloid narratives more directly and be a much more hard hitting album. I want her to be ruthless on it. No more talking about the Scooter, Kim/Kanye drama or the masters issue but more so talking about the media, sexism, ageism and also perhaps ppl's obsession with pitting her up against younger female artists etc. Obviously that can't be the bulk of the record but a few songs talking about that packaged in a alt pop rock type of album sonic palette would do WONDERS. It feels like she needs to make direct hitting out at tabloids albums every 10 years or so nnn lol

when olivia's album visuals and sounds were being teased around march/april, plenty of ppl kinda got the idea of it being olivia's lover in the sense of it being an anxiety laden album about being in love. and once i was listening to the album, i kinda got the idea that its kinda like that mixed with the (impending) doom of midnights/ttpd. i kinda wanna put together a concept for if taylor had one album that was those 2/3 mixed

The 1989 OG version alone is more remembered than folklore. BS + Style + Wildest Dreams alone are kinda more remembered no matter how you try to spin it.

Cowboy Like Jesus is one of her best songs ever. The whole evermore album is slaps after slaps. Oh AARON you are generally severely underappreciated in the swifties base.

I think it just has to be accepted that you can't become this famous without being at the center of the most insane discussions and conspiracies. It's inevitable and honestly just a testament to her immense cultural relevance.

If we look at the most famous women in history, the situation was exactly the same.

Gaylorism for instance is not unique - women like Marie Antoinette and Marilyn Monroe were endlessly "accused" of lesbianism. The public and the media has always scrutinized the personal lives of famous women, from Queen Victoria, to Princess Diana, to Elizabeth Taylor, to Judy Garland, to Britney Spears.

What they all have in common is that the scandals are largely forgotten about now. Most of them are widely beloved and still cause fascination today. I don't think the situation with Taylor will be any different.

I think it's highly delusional to think the next album won't be a pivot after both fans and critics overall disliked the last album. Not saying the songs can't be upbeat but I'm 99% positive next album won't be a pure pop one full of bops (and also let's be right, most of Showgirl is mid-tempo anyway).

I think TS13 is going to be Grammy bait but I don't see it being another Folkmore kind of record… I do think a rock or even a Fleetwood Mac sounding "classy/timeless" pop rock sound with some flourishes of synthpop could work well.

I'm not against her going country but I think there are other sounds I'd like to explore before "going back to her roots" so to speak.

let's be real at this point fans and critics are gonna dislike anything and everything she puts out…so if taylor has any sense she'll just do whatever she wants as opposed to listening to fans and critics.

i just don't need another snoozefest album like the anthology tbh. and even though ttpd standard version is great imo, i need something more lively and uptempo than that. them 15 slow ass songs from the anthology still haunt me to this day, i cannot tell you how cassandra and robin even sound and i've been a fan since fearless.
