Anyone else getting kinda emotional at Walk of Fame? Like **** yes, Miley. From being a little kid at 12 finding his feet listening to Liberty Walk. And fast track 15 years later and FEELING that freedom. In the way we live our lives. Our revolt against hate and all that is evil in this world. I walk the concrete.

Yes bc tell me why I had flashbacks to Miley telling my 10 year old self to not live a lie this is my one life and now I'm about to be 25 :jonny5:

Miley might be my favorite artist at the moment tbh. She's so versatile, her personality is to die for, she's always VERY authentic and none of that pretentious **** that other female popstars do, and

Literally!! Don't live a lie. This is your one life. Just walk. Just walk. And now to I walk the concrete. The walk continues. So so powerful

My rate of Something Beautiful:

  1. Prelude 1/5
  2. Something Beautiful 1/5
  3. End of the World 5/5
  4. More to Lose 3/5
  5. Interlude 1 1/5
  6. Easy Lover 3/5
  7. Interlude 2 1/5
  8. Golden Burning Sun 5/5
  9. Walk of Fame 5/5
  10. Pretend You're God 5/5
  11. Every Girl You've Ever Loved 5/5
  12. Reborn 5/5
  13. Give Me Love 3/5

The overall score is 3/5

The album is good, but I don't know, it's so heavily Euro-inspired: disco, 80s, and synths. Nothing I couldn't live without. I don't get the Walk Of Fame praise though. Perhaps it's because the song's so obviously Modern Talking coded. :eli:

Pretend You're God is QUALITY and lowkey the sound I was hoping she would've explored deeper with this album (along with Prelude and Something Beautiful).

the only problem i have with the album is that some tracks drag way too long... like Reborn could be 1min shorter and etc

i love longer tracks but not every track needs a long outro miss Destiny

Honestly, this is amazing. BY FAR her best album.

I agree with the mixing critiques here, that's something I noticed would be a problem for me from the pre-release singles.

As soon as I heard Walk of Fame I instantly got thrown back to Liberty Walk. The same freedom feeling :jonny5:

"Every Girl You've Ever Loved" is my favorite. I like "Walk of Fame" but I find the chorus to be a little lackluster so it will have to grow on me.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who notices the awful mixing. It's just so negligent and frustrating because this is easily her best work to date and it's ruined by something that should be so paramount and obvious. Nobody on her team heard the mixing and thought to say "I literally can't hear a word you're saying?". And not just that but the instrumentation is so cool and sounds almost live but every instrument morphs together and you can't hear any of the interesting details in the production.

I know I've heard albums suddenly have their mixing changed and serviced to streaming (West Coast by Lana, CTRL by SZA). Maybe if we make this known they'll re-mix the entire album and get that 90+ metacritic score :bam:

Oh @ all the other Taylor x Miley hybrids in here :date: truly the two best girls of our generation :smitten:

the sound texture on this album is 100% intentional, you're absolutely free not to like it but it's not the result of a technical flaw.

Okay but then it may as well be an instrumental album :sosad:

"Walk Of Fame" is giving Smalltown Boy by Bronski Beat

The fact it was not released as single since it is the song with the most commercial potential was a choice

Enjoyed evrything but Walk of Shame:suburban:

Y'all having all these complaints about mixing meanwhile all the producers and harsh critics I've seen video reactions of are saying the sounds are incredible; it's definitely a matter of taste and I think a past criticism before ESV was that the fine-tuned mixing would strip the unique qualities of her voice so either way she can't win :suburban:

I vividly remember people complaining PH was too polished for a rock album

:suburban:

She truly can *never* win it's kinda hilarious. Guess that comes with being one of the most versatile artists of our time :giraffe:

Just started my first listening experience and the prelude is such a fantastic introduction to the album. :jonny6:

The space theme that is going throughout the whole track is incredible and feels very cinematic.

This album sounds so expensive, explosive, fresh, and liberating all at once. Truly one of the greatest artists of her generation :clap3:
