Carly Rae Jepsen - 'Day and Night'
haven't listened to Dancefloor & Motivation in full yet (saving them for the album) but Dancefloor's snippet sounded like a parody of her own quintessential style and Motivation's snippet sounded corny to me. and yes M did remind me of Lifetimes by Katy a bit which is just- On Wires was okay at best for me & After All sounded like the best pre-release but also a bit empty at parts so... i hope the rest of this album delivers something much much better than these pre-releases...

Carly Rae Jepsen - 'Day and Night'
watching the Q&A she did at the listening session rn. while answering a question she mentioned a song that captures the phrase "don't worry baby, it's only pain". apparently a heavy metal one? she then went: "it might show up later on... so i probably shouldn't have said it out loud. who knows..."

Carly Rae Jepsen - 'Day and Night'
iirc someone from Reddit actually did point that out. apparently it was indeed asked during the listening session. she grinned and said something like "I don't know… maybe. Possibly maybe."

Demi Lovato - 'It's Not That Deep (Unless You Want It To Be)'
oh Demi's discog has always been packed with nice midtempos, killer ballads and straight-up Bangerz.m4a... the fact that her team hasn't supported this era properly when the full project is filled with potential HITS is making me mad though... Demetria deserves better...

Ariana Grande - 'petal'
the songs here feel empty without the kind of soul, passion and energy she puts into her songs' live performances. the studio version of title track for instance, absolutely lacks the speciments she delivered during its debut live performance. like where's the same power? most of the songs here are missing the usual punch moments we'd get from her. i get that she's trying different styles but this album sounds a bit boring to me. ES clears this with ease. at least the full project made me appreciate the lead single more though. bad thing & oh well are HITS waiting to happen imo. big feelings' bridge is also one of my favorite moments here.
