If she was able to come back from Younger Now's 45k, she can honestly come back from anything. MIley's career is just built on absolutely massive moments here and there, so nothing new really with another flop.

Idk I think everyone is reading into it too much. Her main reason that she has always mentioned despite it being ignored is to stay sober and preserve her damaged vocal cords. Obviously she doesn't need to talk about this anymore, but idk I'd never be mad at an artist for not touring when I choose to willingly listen to their music and can withdraw my support at any time. Like they're literally just another human, why am I entitled to their time and effort when they probably wouldn't even let me within 100 feet of their home 💀.

ESV is Miley's safest album and if that's the type of music you like, formulaic predictable pop music, that's great, I'm glad you enjoy it. I love Katy's older music even though it's safe because it fits her voice and image. Miley on the other hand is known for being adventurous, experimental, and not making predictable pop sounds. Her immense vocal talent is just wasted on tracks like Flowers. I'd much prefer an artist take risks that may fall flat with critics and commercial success than to rehash the same formulas that kept them successful in their prime.

Sorry but as a katycat myself I cannot take your opinion seriously given Katy's musical output this decade bar the perfect pop song that is Never Really Over. And mind you Katy has like ONE green album on metacritic 😭. Anyway, that basic adult contemporary album (ESV) full of fillers is a dud in her discography besides Handstand and Violet Chemistry.

I think she was fed up with critics after Something Beautiful so she stopped kissing up to them/sending her record early like she and other mainstream artists normally do. Something Beautiful remains one of the highest rated albums on both AOTY and Rate Your Music in 2025 (I think it made a year end list?) so y'all's opinions about that album won't change the fact that it is a masterpiece

I mean I think this type of music is just not your taste because I'd say she was even raspier on Plastic Hearts. If you've heard her recent live performances, she sounds so healthy now compared to 2020 and can control her timbre. She uses the husk when she wants to. You can really hear that control on tracks like End of the World where she sounds so smooth and Pretend You're God where she shows she can still belt notes in the upper 5th octave she last hit during her Bangerz days.

Yeah I don't know why she just abandoned the amazing production team she had for Something Beautiful, like Shawn Everett, Jonathan Rado from Foxygen, Molly and Alec from Alvvays…also Something Beautiful had so many real instruments, from saxophones to the freaking theremin! Her statement was obviously tone deaf but compared to many other celebrities she actually puts money where her mouth is and has been supporting homeless lgbtq+ youth for over a decade with her Happy Hippies foundation. She's donated millions, even when most of her money was from 2013 hits (until 223) lol to disaster relief. She talks in the verses for only 2 tracks lol. For me personally, she's come up with some of the best, most infectious pop melodies of her career this decade. Walk of Fame, Golden Burning Sun, Redlights, Orbit…they just feel like classics and are very reminiscent of the periods she draws inspiration from. Her 2010s stuff was so much more cookie cutter modern pop but I personally think she's really found a great sound now that I hope she continues doing.

Remembering when she got heckled by so called fans last year at her film premiere and was basically commanded to sing, interrupting her premiere, I can see why she feels disconnected recently. What she said was obviously tone deaf, but I'll never understand why some people feel so entitled beyond artists' autonomy.
