MILEY - "Bass Persuades"
Which is why I think so many people on here and twitter disproportionately drag her, especially ever since Flowers and her Grammys wins...like she can flop for the rest of her career but at the end of the day she's a respected legend in the industry, and not many artists can say that!

MILEY - "Bass Persuades"
Even with the recent single plummeting on the charts and not having a hit since 2023...these people may know something we don't
-
MILEY - "Bass Persuades"
At least they aren't 143-level quality like be happy y'all we're getting some of the best music of Miley's career. She only continues to grow artistically regardless of what the charts and numbers say, and I deeply respect that

'Bass Persuades' has left Top 200 of Global Spotify, why?
Those playlsits really mean nothing nowadays like I they they maybe add 200-400k streams lol...ultimately a song succeeds if people actually look for it and listen especially now that Spotify has changed its algorithm...which is why none of Miley's singles have succeeded since Flowers despite getting good playlisting and radio...live performances are her ultimate strength and means of exposure that she is not using to her advantage

MILEY - "Bass Persuades"
Are you new here lmao because no one has ever expected Miley to smash or get a hit easily besides very obvious posts trying to set her up…anyone who still stans Miley to this day follows her solely for the music…otherwise many would have jumped ship in 2015. No need to reply if you don't really care but it's clear that you do and that's fine, smilers have PLENTY of room for more in the fandom

MILEY - "Bass Persuades"
Literally, and also sure there are "hate" tweets but also numerous viral tweets praising the song. Using twitter as a metric for song quality is certainly a choice…
-
MILEY - "Bass Persuades"
We could keep going back and forth about twitter vibes lmao but you clearly have nothing of substance to say so we can just leave it at that. You hate the song, it's not doing well, who really cares besides you?
-
Bass Persuades' shaky start is a worrying sign. Agreed?
EXACTLY. So tired of this narrative that Miley bashes all her previous works when it's just a few interview clips taken out of context. She has very clearly matured and even appreciates her stuff from the Hannah Montana days. For Plastic Hearts she wanted to make a full-on rock record but per her words the label essentially forced her to make some half-baked pop rock mush. Ever since Flowers, she's been in control of her musical output and it's shown in the direction it's taking.

MILEY - "Bass Persuades"
The gp or whatever part of it has heard this song lol is loving Bass Persuades too. Only hate for it I see is on this site. The point is the song is clearly not for YOU and that's completely alright. But so many of Miley's songs and those of other artists have flopped despite being highlights in their discography, and that wasn't because the public thought these songs merely "sucked"

Spotify | Miley - Bass Persuades | Day 3: OUT
But Miley doesn't want to release something like Die With A Smile. It's just in her nature to do something different every time, regardless of whether it sticks. Flowers sticks out in her discography very clearly as the one instance in her career where she tried to make a radio hit and it worked…which is why I just want her to drop this half-baked pop star persona and go all the way with her experimentation. It seems like these labels and expectations of success constantly hold her back when she herself has said she hopes to one day be untethered from mainstream success

Something Beautiful is full of songs with amazing hooks IMO and even that wasn't enough to capture the public's attention. Sorry but I don't think a song being catchy or good is enough to get a hit. And even then, songs that suck like Flowers can go on to become massive global hits 💀

Spotify | Miley - Bass Persuades | Day 3: OUT
TTH has proved meaningless especially when some of Miley's singles in the past have debuted with more streams without TTH in 2019…
-
MILEY - "Bass Persuades"
I do think she needs to figure out what she wants and that's whether to be a "pop star" or an artist "untethered" from mainstream success as she was teasing last year when promoting Something Beautiful...I'm sure its underperformance hurt given how much effort she put into the project production wise, which is why she's trying again for one more era, even doing 2 live shows...but she can't possibly expect people to be tuned in when she hasn't done a world tour in over a decade (we're especially seeing this effect in her global streaming numbers). Otherwise, I'd be more than happy if she kept releasing music for the sake of creation and let go of this half-baked pop star persona where it constantly feels like she wants the success without effort beyond the music
-
MILEY - "Bass Persuades"
Okay well Flowers sucked and it became her biggest hit...just because a song flopped doesn't mean it sucks because trust Miley's discography is full of gems that did not do well on the charts

Miley drops 18 places on Spotify Global artist chart. Shocked?
Y'all saying it's flopping because it's bad as if Flowers wasn't the biggest song of 2023 LMAO…but anyway I think some people forget she's been in the industry and releasing music since 2006 like literally her only other peers from that time still seeing consistent success are Taylor and Gaga, who have also happened to be much more consistent with their mainstream music output and touring. She hasn't been on a world tour since 2013 like it's a miracle Flowers even happened 💀
