CONFESSIONS II vs Brat
Confessions 2, but BRAT has pulled something the former didn't - influence. And that's okay, Madonna had a huge influence during her imperial phase. C2 is better as a whole, it has two duds, but is a stronger project. Charli still has time and has proven she can come up with a stellar project herself. Frankly speaking, Charli is one of the few that can/will eventually pull her own ROL. Both top tier

I'll wait for the full album to listen and judge, but the singles aren't convincing I'm afraid they won't top Wildflower for me

Why did Rihanna going "Good Girl Gone Bad" succeed for her?
Yup, DSTM wasn't a hit at all, Disturbia and Take A Bow didn't hit #1, Shut Up And Drive, Rehab and Hate That I love You didn't hit respectable top20. And I'm speaking about the US only. I'd argue DSTM is a bigger classic in Europe than Umbrella atp. She served us a dancey bop cause US can't dance at all

Not you talking about vocals and engagement in the production process, when the topic is about genre versatility Yes, Rih is more versatile when it comes to genre-juggling

Rihanna
She'll surprise us with the EP release of Breaking Dishes remixes But yeah, pop is popping currently. She's detached herself from pop, but I'd the most surprised if she came with an album filled with pop bops honestly, a reintroduction of the hit machine Rihanna

Rihanna
Considering the latest Madonna's release and the last Rih's album - all it takes is a good album/ep or a string of good songs, doesn't matter the direction. The goodwill is there, she has to come up with quality. Also, her catalogue is so versatile, she scored hits with ballads, pop, dance, house, hip hop, dancehall, people are there for her, but she gotta wash her ears to get that Midas touch back again. Plus, Anti wasn't done to chase the hits, yet she succeeded = the album is a hit, and has plenty of hits off it too.
