Just watched two live reactions by WillTalksMusic and RealMikeTee, both of which like Anthony Fantano have been harsh on her past stuff but they absolutely adored this project front to back; lyrics were definitely a weak point but they gave Miley her kudos for orchestrating this massive, daring yet cohesive project, saying it was her best album

This is really good on first listen. The singles and tracklist are choices, but guess it will make sense when I have time to digest the whole project. Easy Lover is such a good pop song.

Seeing the film on June 12 is going to make this album sound even better to me. God I am so excited!!

It's more of a Miley issue and less of an issue with this excellent album.  She tends to be overly referential to the point that you hear more of who is inspiring each song than… Miley herself.  There's an also lack of consistency throughout her discography and critics don't like that.  Regardless, this is an amazing album and I'd give it an 8-8.5/10.

First listening and it is astounding

I'm so proud of her. There's so much to digest but from my first listen this is her best album. Very grand and cinematic with gorgeous vocals, transitions, and production choices. She truly gagged me.
