her voice sounds more sultry, textured, and sophisticated than ever before. the production is perfect and I totally see what she’s going for with this album now. this is the first time I’ve gotten a strong vision and “vibe” from Miley’s sound. It’s so groovy and chill.

 

Also the music video??? She looks incredible and it’s so sexy yet sophisticated. The dancing at the end too is a SLAY. She’s at her best. I’M SOLD GIVE ME SUMMER MADDDYTY!

It’s actually really smart to release this as the lead. A lead single needs to be consumable to the entire GP - this does exactly that. There’s something for everyone here!

It sounds very 2020, which is probably why I like it. It has that laid back dance/disco sound that people like Dua and RAYE were doing back then.

I enjoyed the callback to We Can’t Stop MV, 10 years later, matured, her in her 30s, in the LA mansion, ending rooftop shot etc etc

Plastic Hearts wasn't a flop though, it's her most critically-aclaimed album and best chart performance in years.

 

She's just playing safe in her first new era under a new label. They clearly wanted something easy for radio support.
