okay so I actually think Cleveland! is very cute it reminds me of the meeting point between Red, 1989, and Lover current ranking: Pink Clouding > Cleveland! > Patient Zero = Babylon all 4 are pretty solid

okay so da bar I went to earlier had this night that's like "if ur name is inserts 6 common first names here u can dwink free well drinks all night" and Joseph was one of the names (my full name, even though most of you know me as Joe lol) so I had two guinnesses and a gnt and omw home I listened to Pink Clouding a bit more and while I enjoy it greatly, I feel like it's a perfect encapsulation of how Taylor's songwriting has kinda declined a bit. now bear with me, cause I'm still kinda tipsy even though it's been almost 2 hours since I've been home. so like… I can tell the template is CLEARLY New Romantics. this time it's a bit more midtempo and a little less euphoric but those reverby adlibs throughout the song and the structure are pure AND I MEAN PURE New Romantics redux material. it's still fun and pretty but it's like… it feels like the lyrics are trying to be something they aren't. they don't achieve the same kind of almost effortless excellence New Romantics (or even I Think He Knows) had. it's the clear cut best song from this deluxe but lemme give it a few more listens before I go to bed to fully articulate my thoughts on it

listening while driving to a bar to meet an old friend and from my concierge days and the first two tracks are kinda meh on first listen but I'm enjoying this Pink Clouding one

i'm holy duck Ghost is the exact type of pop rock banger they always pull off so well sounds straight outta 2007 in the best way!

this album is very if Lina Morgana had a debut album (complimentary) (parts of Blind actually sounds like Far Away) reminds me of Katy Rose and The Corrs too. good stuff

I'm saying! I still think Taylor has it in her to release something totally left field again (or hopefully even more than she's gone before) but she just needs a little stub of the toe or something to get her OUT of her comfort zone again

no I can think of a couple smarter things. instead of being diaristic, like it's her comfort zone to always revert back to, she could once again go for vignettes like she did in Evermore and this time write songs about stuff like the philosophy of religion, human nature through a political lens, feeling isolated in a big city, criticizing oneself for being myopic sometimes, friendship breakups, being at a party and getting in an argument with a stranger where at the end of the song you realize it's nbd cause you'll never see them again, being at a protest and hearing gunshots… I just… does it really need to be love all the time? why don't you branch out? I'm saying this as a fan so swifties don't come at me. and before anyone's like "why don't you write about that?" well b*tch I might already be. I just don't see why she wouldn't want to challenge herself and branch out a bit more sometimes

reading through the first few pages of this thread and I still think a lot of you are doing a bit much on Showgirl to this day… it's like you completely forgo the fact that what really shines on that album are the melodies and not the lyrics, which pushes further my point I always bring up that Taylor is a better and more consistent melodist at her best than she is a lyricist. wish more could agree with me on that but oh welllll anyway excited for this

I like this title a lot but I genuinely cannot see what she's gonna do with it lol. it'll be interesting to see if it's not a love song. knowing her… unfortunately it somehow probably will be 🫠 when it comes to singles, she really rarely writes about anything else

still haven't given it a listen yet but if Take Me to Sunrise is any indication, it's probably their best work to date. I understand why Pitchfork isn't into them though tbh they have a very specific sound and a very specific aesthetic and it's not for everyone

baby no, but I would love to public perception has generally been swaying towards hairy guys being perceived in a more positive fashion so perhaps I'd be a hit

this album is so good and she's realllllly leaning into the sad girl banger sort of vibe she's always been labeled to excel in I don't understand all the criticism in here, this is easily my favorite first listen from her since Blue Lips! Source of Life lowkey reminds me of Rihanna's Lost in Paradise for some reason (complimentary) lol I think my only real critiques after my first listen are that, yes, some of the songs could be a little bit longer and there are a few moments where I can tell a bridge would've fit well in a song. but otherwise are we listening to different albums? some of you are acting like this is mid for some reason
