you know I love you hon, I hear ya. she definitely has her fair share of excellent music in her discography. as time goes on I've gotten increasingly better at separating the art from the artist, and with Taylor, personally, that's what I've done a lot of the time. it hasn't been something to put a ton of effort into, it's just a lot of my becoming more realistic about people I'd idolized in the past. I likewise recognize that a lot of my favorite songs of all time were created by very much flawed people

excellent album it feels like it takes all of the abstractions of Raven and all of the pop sounds of her most exciting songs (Bankhead, Rewind, Waitin, LMK, Happy Ending, Contact) and refines them into a beautiful indie pop-inspired succinct record. every non-single track sounds gorgeous to me on first listen but wow... Don't Piss Me Off is such an all-timer Crystalize is gorgeous too, very much a Kate Bush or Peter Gabriel or Prince type of serve!

oh believe me, even as someone who's always been a fan of a good amount of her music, I feel like I've always been able to see through that faรงade at least somewhat. it was always gearing up towards this, at the least. it all started when I was 13 and Speak Now was released and I heard THAT lyric in the bridge of Mean... even as a perpetually idealistic dude who always sees the best in everyone he meets, that lyric stood out like a motherf*ckin' sore thumb. if you're crying about how someone correctly stated that you're not a great singer and yet you're not really doing anything to improve that stance projecting unto you by others... like girl. that's the definition of calculated. oh boo-f*cking-hoo. go cry into some $100 bills. yeah, you know? I'm more musically talented than her. I can think of several other ATRLers who are also easily more talented than her. I can still sing circles around her and I'm a broke 29 year old who likely will never find solid success as a musician the way she is so privileged to have had. again, for the swifties who are gonna wanna scream at me due to their harsh and everpresent parasocial qualities, I do still like a lot of her music hihi! but girl. I can be realistic, too edit: lemme uhhhh clarify real quick also if this came off as harsh to any degree. I do believe that Taylor has talents. but there's a level of frustration in being a lifelong musician myself, having known tons of likewise lifelong musicians, and seeing someone who has only honed her craft in very specific realms over the years getting so much more success than any of us will ever see. than all of us will ever see combined. I think a lot of you know what I mean if you think about it

@LosingHimWasBlue @Kurt Hummel @Flames2Embers hi guys! Joe here just outta curiosity: why'd you downvote this? surely even fans of her music can acknowledge that this is f*cking insane how she won't take action against MAGA but WOULD take action this swiftly against something as petulant as people posting her wedding invitations. I just wanna know why, if you wouldn't mind answering! and dgmw, I myself listen to a lot of her music and am still a fan of a lot of her music. but I distanced myself, personally, from the swiftie label a loooong time ago after I saw her in concert! just to give you a picture that I'm not trying to be preachy or hypocritical here!

I had a fun hookup with an older FWB who I hadn't seen since December (he's like a 5'10 older bear and he always bottoms for me as many of you know, I'm 5'6 but I mostly top!) and I got home about 25 minutes ago and I verrrrry much need to go to the gym tonight but I'm gonna wait til my phone is charged to a more sufficient percentage... so lemme do a first listen right now while my phone charges since I've been waiting for this one!

Kelly Clarkson - "I'd Be Lyin'"
all of this I'm sorry, I know that certain productional elements of Chemistry fell flat/were a bit lackluster overall (looking at you, title track and Rock Hudson) but if Chemistry as an album were "soccer mom" music, it'd be of the most alcoholic, self-deprecating, therapy-needing soccer mom of all time. that album is so emotionally devastating when you really consume it as it is...

I'M SO MOTHAAAAFUCKIIIIIN EXCITED YASSS AND LEGG AND HONEYTURKEY IT HAS NEVER, and I mean NEVER, BEEN MORE GODDAYUMMMMM TRUEEEEEE! idr if it was on twitter or on instagram, but yesterday I saw that someone said that the verses were very pop rock/power pop ร la I Forgive You, but that the chorus was more country soul-ish ร laaaa, shall we say, Don't Rush! omfg I am so ready for MOTHER KELLY BRIANNE to slay our hearts and souls, a healing shall occur to the highest level! I have a FEEEEEEELIIIIIING! YASSSSS A FEELING, IT IS TROO ._. that an album is in our midst as well I feel feel a feeeeeuhhhhl that a Strongeresque renaissance of creativity and vocal acrobatriotionics shall befall us, oh yes my dear honeyturkeys, my honeysharks, my FIERCE DIVATASTIC DIVAS YASSSSS, it is true. I can snense it. that's a snail's sense of sense! factually! things fall into place, we thrive and survive, and Kelly delivers her finest single in years with the emotionally fraught and powerhousetastic I'd Be Lyin': a fierce blend of her signature pop rock and the countryish soul that has inspired her in her time living in Nashville. a new album shall result, by the end of 2026, motharfuckarrrr it is troo.

Colby O'Donis v Jay Sean
this, otoh, I feel like is because Colby didn't instantly have an image and a vibe wholly unique to him at that exact moment. 2008-2011 was a time when to become huge you sorta had to have something really sui generis to have an audience want to cling onto you and really want to start following you. Gaga had the lightning bolt and the blonde hair and some throwback vibes about her that made her seem kinda like a Warhol superstar. she flawlessly blended her weirdness with a futurism (dare I say a future nostalgia? lol) that made her stand out from everyone else in that era did Colby even have an album track as strong as Poker Face? genuinely asking lol. I do love What You Got, dgmw

Enough time has passed. Can we admit Confessions II is kinda bland?
no it's definitely not bland, but I will say that sooooome people are doing a bit much on how much they're praising it. I think that it's a great sequel and a fine album on its own, but there's something about it where a few tracks feel a bit exhausting to get through sometimes TO ME. I think it'll grow on me a LOT the way the original Confessions did though!

Margaret Qualley and Jack Antonoff officially separated after 3 years, PEOPLE reports
