I have my own list of criticisms towards Miley as a stan, but people really do the most when it comes to her albums. Let's put into perspective that in the last seven years all of Miley releases had songs that were either career highlights or were among the best pop songs released that year. Slide Away, Midnight Sky and Walk of Fame to name a few. Her material is actually much stronger now than the first half of her career and that is something that most artists can't relate, especially when you're doing it for nearly 20 years. Most pop girls become a caricture of their prime years by that point but Miley refuses to be reduced to that despite internet gays screaming for a "Bangerz 2.0 era" whenever they can. Those things alone put her in a much better place than some of the so-called MPGs with "great discographies" that are burned out and have nothing truly exciting to put out anymore.

This post made me curious to why you had to randomly bring up Smile for this comparison and I am genuinely shocked to find out that 143 managed to be a even bigger flop than Something Beautiful. How is that even possible? Didn't this album have a 100-date world tour? omg We all love Miley's commitment to her music regardless of the numbers, and the goodwill she's built with the public is what has made this possible. I feel like more people would've named Christina as their favorite singer if you asked them back in 2003 than the amount of people who would've named Dua in any year this decade, but even without a huge fanbase, Dua's music has still been far more successful and relevant than Christina's and that's what really matters.

I don't think anyone hears the name Miley and thinks of anyone other than her so if it happens, I don't see dropping Cyrus being that big of a deal really.

The way she's probably been shadowbanned on social media for years now because of her incompetent team. I just don't understand why it's so hard to see and accept that this approach simply isn't working. She doesn't need to jump on cheap trends or soundbites on TikTok like she did for PH, but surely there's a better way to go about it than the whole 3-post on IG thing with a "_____ COMING SOON" or "_____ OUT NOW" caption.

Hard work always works for Miley, even when she has all the odds against her. 2019 was her lowest point, but she put her sweat, blood and tears into making Plastic Hearts be heard and it became a cult classic for her, at least among pop music fans. The thing now is that after so many mistakes and missed opportunities, we all know that the only thing that could truly keep the momentum going beyond the initial exposure would be a tour announcement, but that is not happening, so I've made peace with it and moved past commercial expectations for her. I know the "music not the bling!" talk is corny but it's honestly for the best as a stan after so many years. It's frustrating because I just know her country ass was upset that after putting her heart into creating Something Beautiful people don't even know it exists, but she has no one to blame but herself. I'll be more than satisfied with a great album and see her committing to it.

I'm no bottomoftheocean but Miley never really repeats herself so I don't think she'll ever do a "2.0" type of album, this one probably just feels like a natural progression rather than a drastic sound change this time

StatsonCyrus is such an annoying account, they've alwaysss been corny, but it feels like they've been on a downward spiral for like three years now. Suspending them would've kind of been the best thing to happen to Miley. Everything I'm hearing about the music sound so exciting so far, I'm rooting she keeps her foot on that Something Beautiful edge but Plastic Hearts polished this time.
