The Encore tracks are overhated

Featured Replies

So yes, Cleveland! sucks. But Pink Clouding is fun and a fresh perspective, even if the slightly underbaked production means it doesn't reach the highs of the best of 1989. Patient Zero is a perfectly fine song – not without its flaws – but decent all the same. Babylon is also good and would be great with a little more polishing. These three are all serviceable tracks for a deluxe edition.

These songs aren't even close to being as bad as Chopalite, Wood and Actually Romantic. OTHs just want to continue the hate train, which Pitchfork has been exploiting for clicks, but this time the justification isn't there.

True. I just think critics are retroactively reviewing the album as a whole at this point, because it aged like milk.

The first verse of the Tayprophecy of TS13 fulfilled with @gelato making this thread!

Pitchfork 10.0 incoming!

I've been saying since midnights that she's hopelessly lost as an artist and every new release is going to be more panned than the last one. People are waking up to the state of her career and these songs aren't the specific problem.

It's hard being right all the time and dragged for it. campfire

The music is awful.

Don't be mad people are actually listening to it unlike a recent "album of the year".

You mean her career being at the same level as the Beatles?

K, lol.

Swifties shouldn't take the criticism to heart. None of these songs, aside from Ohio, would receive anywhere near this much attention if they had been on previous albums that match their soundscape (patient zero & ttpd, babylon & evermore, pink ***** poppin' &1989).

The criticism is largely a critique on her dominance the last few years. You see this as the conversation has moved on from any individual song toward "she needs a break". That's not to say she doesnt deserve criticism, but it's been hilarious reading the Music sub reddit and seeing Slayer fans say these songs are trash, as if they were ever the audience for them.

My critique is on dumbass motherfuckers who can't form their own opinions and parrot speak. See my downvotes if you want names.

If it's confirmation bias then why are the pannings becoming more retroactive by the day? coffee

Taylor has become overhated overall because of her spamming of all those confusing album releases and re-releases. She'd run out of ideas and the chart greed has blinded her. The general public has caught up now.

She needs to take a break , Rihanna style, OR take 2 years off to work on a brand new sound and actually ALLOW producers to do their job. Her fan base's consumption of her anything has driven out all the talent she'd once had.

She's become 2016 Ed Sheeran.
