Yeah I think it's pretty clear she is going to tell her relationship from start to finish on the album rollout. And taking that into account maybe this is not the strongest track but it is the one that fits best with the begining of their love story.
And it's pretty smart because we all know the first single is going to do well no matter what so having a stronger track as a single later on works perfectly

It's definitely pop rock. It's just more synthy, less punky pop rock.

The first post-chorus instrumental sounds like a really cheap MIDI plugin and the production is chaotic and not in a good way. I really want to love it but it's just kind of there. The second half of the song is a bit better at least but it's a chop I'm afraid.

Good write-up from Laura Snapes. I have a feeling this is a bit of a pallete cleanser before she diverts and experiments more dramatically with her style like what my future is to the more mature Happier Than Ever sound.

this is such a great song

it's too early to tell because she only has 2 happy songs but she seems like one of the few artists who writes even better music when they're in love than when they're heartbroken (both this and so american are top 5 in her discography)
