personally, I was only conscious and aware of music during teenage dream and so I guess I'm partial towards that even though I prefer Britney I think she's more successful in every other metric. But I also think that that's probably because I think BOMT is a terrible album that's carried by three singles and the stop remix. Excluding Britney Jean, every one of Britney's other albums is better. It's very similar to how I feel about like a virgin, I think it's a terrible album so I view it lesser than Madonna's other albums, even though it's more successful.

Britney is the first pop girl I ever stanned as an actual child in 2007. so, I can't speak to her fame before the year 2006 probably. However, what I do know is that there's literally never been a popstar in my lifetime as more all consuming and famous as Taylor Swift. She literally is what Drake was last decade, and she was already a massive star before Drake even debuted and has maintained a level of omnipresence that nobody has since the monoculture died. They can write all the essays they want, but truly nobody is touching her when it comes to success in this century, point blank period.

lmfao no its not she thinks showgirl is one of her best. i do not agree with this narrative that shes been on a downward slope since evermore though, ttpd is genuinely top 3 of her career w evermore and red tv. midnights is also great imo just not aoty worthy. the real tea is that even though showgirl is a clunker, it wouldve been well received if any of her peers released it. also, taylor is judged by critics and the public almost solely upon how her celebrity is being perceived during the time the album is released rather than the quality of the album (i.e. ttpd being received negatively when its an opus, people lifting great lyrics out of context in order to clown her, trying to call her an actual nazi over a very milquetoast love song about gemstones). that being said showgirl is a bottom 3 taylor record, she is above it at the point, and the deluxe was entirely unnecessary so let her get the negative feedback hopefully she course corrects

I agree with your assessment, she really needs to pull late 60s to early 70s Beatles type inspired material (no, I do not mean she needs to actually reenact what they were doing at the time, but just the Taylor Swift, equivalent of that excellence as well as the commercial success that came with it) to really cement her legacy as not only the most successful but one of the greatest of all time

I think before you decide to cut people off, you need to evaluate how heavy the conversations were with these other people and how close your relationship was with them. Most people are not well equipped to handle mental health issues, especially when they've not experienced it in the past. When people are struggling, we tend to be self oriented and that on top of social isolation that is usually imposed by oneself during depression reads as you pulling away from important relationships, and so they might feel the same way, especially if they've never gone through something like this before.
