I love Manon and want her back, but all the "only care about Manon, **** the others" comments are... kinda weird, lol.

I'm sorry to say but I really don't think she'll be successful as a solist. She's charismatic and gorgeous, but her skills are still in development. The girl can't sing on her own to save her life, she obviously is improving but as a solo singer? Nah, I don't see it for now. If even Normani, with all the talent she has, couldn't break out as a solist...

She definitely works better in a group 100%. Not everyone needs to have a Beyoncé moment. But if Selena Gomez can make it with her whisper-like vocals, then Manon definitely can.

what if Geffen is the issue somehow skull this is such a mess

This is a good point, honestly the best case scenario would be for her to sign with TDE or Roc Nation for management because they know how to market black girls and maybe go to Republic or literally any other label under the Universal umbrella.

Manon CANNOT leave

well sadly sorta kinda but Manon put out what reads like some sort of label damage control statement on weverse after fans noticed she apparently removed the band from her IG bio but its still not 100% clear what actually went down / is going on rip

the song is kinda cute, only like the chorus tho

They're not going to let her go rip

You all keep comparing her to Normani like the situations aren't completely different. Manon is arguably the most popular member of the group being mistreated by her label. How is that comparable to Normani again? you think Manon attract fans because she can sing and dance?? And since when do pop stars need that to have a career? Do I need to start naming names? Her relatability and aesthetics is how she is marketed. She was the one who actually had a social media following prior to the group. This situation will only catapult her career even further regardless of what avenue she decides to venture.

Literally. I've seen some of the most absurd parasocial takes on here and on x: people speculating about the girls' relationships just because others haven't spoken up, attacking their families, accusing Lara of "fake" dark skin even though darker-skinned Indian women exist, and claiming that anyone in real life would storm a manager's office if a coworker were mistreated. These takes completely ignore how HYBE operates, NJZ was put on hiatus, and a member was removed just for speaking out. Manon can barely address what's happening, so expecting the other girls to risk the same is completely unreasonable.

The way she removed KATSEYE of her bio right after the mv teaser release sounds very calculated, which makes me think this whole situation is staged.

Removing something from your bio instead of speaking up? That's weird and very inconsiderate for your fans.

agree...esp. with the canned PR response ready to go.

Yeah, but can you name one woc, that came from a girl group, that made it without needing to have the extra mile of talent? For a white girl to be marketed, with limited talent, the machine work, but it doesn't happen with girls of color, which we all know it's a sad reality. Even the talented ones have a hard time.

I wish her all the success, whatever is in the group or not, but at the same time we have to keep the reality in check. Her image will make her go far, even as a model/influecer for sure. We shall see.

theorizing idk why they made her go on hiatus (since it didn't appear to be her decision) but she was (prob rightfully) pissed/sad/frustrated which is why she put out that first statement and then liked the mistreatment post (which she eventually unliked right? so it's not like she's all f*ck it / not trying to be in their good graces)

they shot the video without her right after the hiatus announcement (which she had practiced for/was meant to do) and now that they've begun teasing it (and she's not in it) she also did something to publicly show she's still pissed abt it (removing the band from her ig bio) maybe hoping it causes more backlash again and in a last ditch effort they get her back for Coachella (or just back period) michael idek

Without Manon they look like a bunch of Asian/light-skinned girls with a token dark-skin member and that's just not a good look for a 'global girl group', you can't claim to be that and then have the group looking like a 2000s makeup palette. She wasn't my favorite member but her loss is hard to ignore, I wish the rest an ounce of luck cause the whole thing has me & many others looking at them differently now.

Clock it without Manon and Lara are just here for the quota (they're stars tho) no one would've called Katseye a global gg without them mind you 4 of them are Asians and they had one American and one European

I'm not disputing what you're saying entirely. With that being said, Manon is kind of an outlier here. Even though she's the only black girl in the group, she was still the most popular, despite the lazy, can't sing, can't dance accusations, and the only one who had a social media following noteworthy prior to the group. The same cannot be said for the other black girls in girl groups. Clearly, there's some interest there from the GP. I personally don't think she's going to do music but I can definitely see her have a career if she plays her cards right.

I'm not sure why Normani keeps coming up. The only thing they have in common is being the only black girl in a girl group. Normani's main appeal is her dancing/performing. She's gorgeous, but being pretty or charismatic was never her selling point, and her lack of success has a lot more to do with the delays and mismanagement of her career, than anything else. But we can't ignore the fact that Normani is a dark-skinned mono-racial black girl, and Manon is not.

If Manon were to go solo, a more relevant comparison would be Tyla. She's not the greatest vocalist, and she can move but isn't a trained dancer like Normani. Her selling point is being gorgeous and charismatic. She also has the advantage of occupying a singular space in the music industry as a South African who does amapiano inspired music. Manon would be in a similar position as a Swiss-Ghanian. I'm not saying she'll automatically be successful, but an artist like her can theoretically be successful with the right music/promo/team. It's not really a Normani situation.

I feel like the girl group part is not really relevant because we're in a new era of music. Back in the prime of girl groups, labels decided who to invest in and who to push, and weren't backing the woc who wasn't extra talented. But we are now in an era where popularity has little to do with talent, and more to do with the ability to gain an audience. The real question is whether a black girl who is popular on social media but doesn't have extraordinary talent can have the Addison Rae type treatment. I think someone like Manon is the perfect person to answer that question. Personally, I think it's possible for a black social media it girl to be successful, and it's even more likely if the person isn't an extraordinary talent.

No shade, but I wouldn't be surprised if HYBE/Geffen let Manon get off easy to knock down KATSEYE a bit. The timing of all this and Prelude debuting is just a little too coincidental!

I've seen a bunch of theories about HxG wanting to drop or sabotage KATSEYE but what's the point? They invested millions on them and thank God is paying back. Why would they not want them?

Also, if they flop without Manon and get dropped, is legally possible creating a new group, with another name, new label, etc? I really love and want them to succeed.

The thing is that, if she's not already back rehearsing, I don't think she will be back for Coachella

whether this is a pr stunt or not… it's a terrible look for katseye

edit: nvm it actually being a pr stunt would be worse deadvision

Trying to hold out hope that HxG is trying to drum up as much press as possible for their comeback by being ambiguous and that Manon will be back for the song/video (or maybe at Coachella?). If that's not the case, the label have handled this absolutely horribly. The other girls have been dragged through the mud, Dani especially, all press is about Manon, and the very vague statements about the situation have done nothing but make things worse. If Manon is no reinstated soon I don't see them being able to get back on their feet, which makes me bummed because they truly have the potential to be superstars. I guess we'll see...
