I hope sooner rather than later someone (preferably one of the girls) spills on wtf happened with this hiatus bs cuz this might've truly been a generational fumble on their team's behalf -- for obvious reasons if she's out of the group, and even if somehow she's not, PR-wise this is still an atomic mess for a girl group that genuinely felt was about to blow up / could've hit a big commercial peak not seen in quite a while (and doing it with questionable music too, cuz imagine if they had actually locked in with a solid team of producers to work on a debut album for this year)

That's why I don't understand people who are saying that it's all some orchestrated PR campaign and viral marketing. This is a total disaster that is damaging the group's brand and members so much with each passing day, why would any label want their acts to deal with this bs

There is some merit in using ragebait to promote yourself, and Katseye themselves already did it for Gnarly, but this is a whole other level

Pretty sure that article that claimed Manon will be performing at Coachella was wrong. It has since been updated.

Also, Manon isn't on Pinky Up. There's no marketing gimmick about whether she'll be on the track or in the video when it drops. She's not on it.

Who cares about Manon? What talent does she have other than being beautiful? She's probably the least talented member of the group. Lara and Daniella are the most talented followed by Meghan, Sophia and Yoonchae.

I do? Manon and Megan are my favorite members.

Everyone keeps calling Manon the "least talented," but she literally had no training before she got scouted. And still, when she's on stage, she blends right in with the rest of the girls. She feels like the personality of the group - she comes off the most likable to me. Every time I watch their interviews, she's the one that ends up being the funniest and most relatable. Like she's the whole reason why they do the British and southern accents in their lives.

we care about all 6, all of them have been essential to the group's formation, success and even grew their own (substantial) fandoms for a reason

Yeah, all the members are important to the group and bring something different. There isn't a "Beyoncé" of the group right now. If we're talking purely about talent, I'd say Lara is probably the closest, but even then I don't think she'd make it as a solo artist, especially in the US. I just don't like how some Manon fans are acting like she's the only reason the group has any success, when most of the streams and sales are actually coming from SEA and LATAM. I do hope she comes back, and I don't think there's any real drama between the girls, but people on stan twitter will take random clips and run with it, acting like they all hate each other. What's even worse is that it's people in thirties spreading this rhetoric . And honestly, anyone thinking about solo careers right now is being unrealistic. Missy literally cut the other Korean member because she said she only wanted to do this for two years before possibly going solo. If K-pop contracts are anything to go by, they'll probably be active as a group for 5–7 years, unless they start to flop.

Do you have anything concrete to evidence what you're saying? How do we know she's not on the final track?

It just doesn't make sense to release the song / video without her if they're still having "positive conversations". I'm assuming their EP will have been sent to be pressed onto vinyl and that all physical merch will be prepped - she's either in Katseye or fully out. They won't have time to change physical media production in time for the preorder release.

She was definitely meant to be on Pinky Up from the rehearsal stuff that surfaced, but then whatever happened and she got benched. If I had to guess, all the girls probably record the full song, and then they decide who gets which lines. Manon's lines were definitely redistributed, and they likely filmed the video after her hiatus announcement.
