MANON BANNERMAN'S FUTURE WITH KATSEYE IN JEOPARDY: Legal...

Legal pressure mounts over Coachella performance - Mar 24, 2024: Your go-to source for the latest celebrity gossip, sightings, & breaking news

Fans are still eagerly awaiting the fate of Manon Bannerman and the musical group KATSEYE. Sources tell Deuxmoi that as of now, Manon is allegedly not planning to return to the group. She is, however, allegedly still contractually obligated to perform at Coachella and failure to do so could result in legal action from both the festival and HYBE.

Multiple sources indicate she is allegedly no longer on speaking terms with most of the group. Sophia is said to be the only member who has reached out, though the nature of that communication remains unclear.

At this point, Manon is allegedly communicating with her record label through a mediator, specifically at her own request, and is refusing to speak directly with anyone on the team. She has also raised the possibility of pursuing early termination. Allegedly, the label's position, however, is that they did not terminate her; her current hiatus is a standard and legally protected practice under both Korean law and the terms of her contract, meaning it could extend for up to three years without liability on the company's end. Sources suggest that if anything, Manon would face greater legal exposure should she attempt to exit early and particularly if she does not fulfill obligations like Coachella. Potential claims could allegedly include breach of contract and defamation, especially given her public statements asserting she is "healthy," while the company has cited missed obligations across rehearsals, meetings, and brand commitments.

Prior to this shift, Manon was allegedly still participating in group activities. She reportedly recorded the group's "Pink Up" track and took part in promotional shoots for the music video.

However, after seeing the public's supportive response to her hiatus, she allegedly decided to make that hiatus permanent.

Even so, sources stress that refusing to return does not void her contractual obligations. If she intends to pursue early termination, she would still be expected to fulfill required appearances, Coachella included. The festival is reportedly firm that all six members must perform per their contract. If Manon does not show, Coachella could allegedly take action against Hybe and Geffen Records, who would then, in turn, pursue claims against her for breach of contract and early termination on her part. And despite online reaction, sources say neither HYBE nor Geffen appear concerned. Both companies operate at a scale where this situation is not viewed as materially impactful.

Most likely scenario is tension between Manon and someone (Missy)/people in management. They probably placed her on hiatus and are trying to strongarm her by removing her from the release (which the leaks confirm she was supposed to be a part of). I don't think they wanted to remove her from the group completely (at least initially). Sophia giving Manon a shoutout at one show then not doing it at the other shows is giving "we support our girl, but the label told us to zip it."

I honestly think the label has been basically radio silent with Manon, and her removing Katseye from her bio was her way of trying to regain some bargaining power by stirring the pot (because most people paying attention are on her side). I think the label isn't giving statements to try to control the narrative (like they did with Samara's Dream Academy drama), but that's backfiring hard.

Will be very interesting to see how this plays out. I think everything's up in the air at this point, but after BTS flopping it would be smart for HxG to do everything they can to keep her.

Idk about this - I'm not buying the narrative that HxG has serious legal exposure if only 5 girls perform instead of 6. I think Manon would have legal exposure with the label, but not the label with Coachella.

yea I thought the same, honestly the whole thing reads like someone looked up what's been speculated by other alleged "insiders" recently and came up with their own version skull but I figured I'd share since they do have their sources and exclusive tea/are right sometimes (esp when the admin does an actual post and it's not just those random screenshotted tips people submit)

Tired of this Manon drama, can she either be in or out of the group and lets move on rip

Who cares about Manon? What talent does she have other than being beautiful? She's probably the least talented member of the group. Lara and Daniella are the most talented followed by Meghan, Sophia and Yoonchae.

Okay Missy go take a walk.

Manon posted a pic of her cat with the song "It ain't over till its over" with hexagons (6 sides coffee) in the background and the Manon appearing from wherever in the MV backgrounds theories keep getting louder. People keep finding hints, like someone holding the sword from the claw machine in Dani's solo shot scene and also the Mano-Lisa in that scene too. This is a poop show.

the "Manon Lisa" theory, seeing her shadow in the video pics with the girls from them "editing her out", spotting her "hiding" in Lara's recent pic, and more.. skull

I do wonder how this is gonna do

The reality is if Manon is not on the song, the group is definitely going to take a hit. Not saying they'll flop, but it may tie into reduced brand deals and longevity of their music down the road once people know if Manon is in the group or not. Pinky Up will be frontloaded out of curiosity and hype, but if Manon really isn't on it its going to fizzle out and all hell will break loose.

You keep saying this but 90% of their streams come from LATM and SEA. They'll be fine rip

And you keep saying that knowing that's not true, but anyways. As I implied, they need the Western market as most of their visibility and campaigns will stem from there and that's where they're going to be taking the biggest hit on their image because of this if they don't rectify it.

They don't really need to rely on the Western market in the traditional way anymore. While Manon is clearly an important part of the group, the data shows that most of their streams consistently come from Latin America and Southeast Asia, Spotify figures back that up.

We're also in a different era now, where a song's success is driven more by virality than traditional promotion. Most of their visibility comes from TikTok, and KATSEYE are particularly well-suited to that space. In fact, their music show performances on Korean music shows played a major role in Gnarly going viral, showing how performance clips and short-form content can amplify a song far beyond its initial release.

Saying that they don't need the western market is delusional.

Read back what I posted skull the West basically follows whatever's blowing up on TikTok now. Tons of songs have hit big this way. Traditional promo isn't even necessary, going viral actually boosts radio play. Also the UK is one of KATSEYE's biggest markets, Internet Girl managed to outpeak any FLO song. So they'll be fine.

Pinky Up is a bop, just like Internet Girl and Gnarly, and if that makes me someone with bad taste, then so be it.
What's with this obsession with forcing girls to put out super vocal-heavy songs just to prove they can sing??? WE DON'T CARE. We already know they can sing, they can prove it by performing Imagine by John Lennon live if they really want, please.
We just want fun, catchy bops, and Pinky Up does the job.
The only thing I'd criticize about the demo is that the final drop is too short (kind of like the ending of Jump with the heavy bass).

Jesus... Now I just want Manon to not comeback just for them to suffer. And I thought that Barbz were weird, this is a whole another level.

The good thing is that this whole drama might have a final point this week. This has been dreadful and annoying.

If Manon doesn't want to keep in the group, let her go and move on. coffee2

Regardless of if Manon was on the song or not, Pinky Up would be a polarising song that would divide the fanbase. I don't think the commercial chart peaks of this song would indicate if they are due to flop. The follow up single / EP charts/sales would be more important in that regard.

"If Lara wants Manon out, she has the final say" everything about the discourse around them is a MESS because what do you mean there are people who genuinely believe Lara and her parents are bigger than HYBE?
