The way they'll handle the whole situation regarding Manon's position in the group will also play a key role tbh.
Even if her hiatus might have been planned to make people """talk about the group""" (and even if she didn't really agree with it), it got out of control for sure and just turned into bad press.
I hope she's coming back.

I think this is a bit dramatic, and what's with the Flo comparison? Internet Girl already has more streams than any of their songs, they don't even have a higher peaking single... in the UK, so where's the competition? stan twitter?

They're fine with the music, it might not match their potential but they make it work and are able to draw people in. I fear Manon staying or leaving is what might be the real make it or break it moment in coming weeks.

Unfortunately people don't even stream Flo so im confused with the sudden comparison.

However gnarly 2.0 gimmick will not work IG bombed despite the initial success, they'll debut with like 2-3M streams since they're making noise but they better hope the choreo goes viral cause prelude is coming and HYBE will try to make them more successful than katseye.

They can have all the streams in the world. It's clear they also want respect and acclaim. Especially Lara, you can tell she desperately wants to be taken seriously as an artist but the HYBE clearly has other plans in mind

you mean the same Katseye that doesn't even have an album out and just got 2 Grammy noms (more than Flo) including BNA + were the first gg to perform at the ceremony in like 24 years..

Lara literally just said this in an interview (below) it's pretty obvious they also enjoy the material they're putting out no matter how much some fans claim otherwise

Oh thanks! I missed this. I don't think this will actually be their first single (based on the video title), but I'm really puzzled by what the mid-long term plan for the group actually is at this point.

Katseye's management is ruining them for me. This whole role out seem like a major set up that did not need to include Manon.

Manon was the reason I fell in love with the group. She was the entry point. Seeing a black girl in a pure pop kpop band was intriguing. Without her the aura is kinda lost for me.

Even if she does come back, her mistreatment left a bad taste.

Sorry my intention was not to make this a Katseye v Flo thing. I was just pointing out that its 1,000% possible to create POP music and DELIVER musically.

To be honest, the entire narrative surrounding Manon has been weird from the very beginning.

Since it was a survival, they needed engagement and the way they build her storyline in PA resulted into Manon being seen as less professional than other girls while Adéla was basically villainized in the end.

I don't think they fully anticipated how popular the two girls would eventually become.

Well Adele is pretty much free and has moved away from the narrative PA put on her. Manon is sadly trapped under Hybe, even if she doesn't come back to the group they're going to hold her hostage like they to with every idol that gets mistreated by them and takes legal action. Pray for Manon.

What's more puzzling to me is how far they went to actually include her in the program, she didn't have artist training at all at the time so she got a special route to join, if I remember correctly. To then treat her this way.

Why are we acting like the music industry isn't a business? At the end of the day, it runs on profit and brand value. If a group is bringing in money, growing its audience, and staying relevant, they're going to be prioritised, simple as that. KATSEYE is a good example. They're one of the few K-pop-adjacent groups that have actually had global success without falling off after the initial hype. And their support clearly goes beyond stan Twitter. They've built a real audience, people who are actually streaming, buying music, and showing up in real life. Their Lollapalooza turnout says more than any viral tweet ever could. That's why a lot of the discourse online feels out of touch. A loud group of people on X doesn't represent the general public. The things that actually matter, sales, streams, ticket demand, paint a much more accurate picture.

Manon should definitely come back, though.

Also people acting like she's first Black woman in a K-pop group, Fatou is. And it's interesting how people don't really want to have that conversation or acknowledge it properly.

I wouldn't take that user with what anime avi seriously. They're a K-pop fan through and through. A lot of K-pop fans are quick to scream "payola" at anything KATSEYE does, and some are still in denial that they're one of the few HYBE groups that have actually connected with parts of the general public. It just feels like a way to downplay or invalidate the girls' success.

Everything feels so heavy and dark with them since the Manon Drama. They should lean into it and stop with the Kids Bopz
