Ariana Grande โ petal review thread | Metacritic: 64 | AOTY: 61 | Pitchfork 6.5
I think the write-up makes some good points about the production certainly feeling experimental, but the lyricism still being indicative of someone who is restraining/shielding themselves from something, and how that restraint/shield is a common mainstay in her career.

Why do all the Beyoncรฉ hits this decade have poor longevity?
It's an uninspired lead choice to me. Oh well. Beyoncรฉ is the greatest living artist to me. I didn't need a song aunties play on the radio before clocking into their receptionist job as the lead.

Why do all the Beyoncรฉ hits this decade have poor longevity?
BMS is a bland lead single choice II Most Wanted was barely a single Talent sometimes loses for the others

ATRL'S NEXT TOP MODEL | C8 | WEEK 2: THE GODDESS WITHIN
@Dolce Vita - Addison Rae At first look I wasn't really sure what to make about this outfit. The setting is excellent, I think the stance is great, but I found myself perplexed by the outfit. After spending more time with it, I kind of like how unflattering it is, it almost evokes an Alice in Wonderland style peculiarity. @Pendulum - Alex Consani While it's certainly the brand of peculiar that Alex excels withโฆthere's a whisper of the theme here. @Outbound - Allison Harvard I've seen this picture a million times, but it is the kind of statement you make when you're hungry for the win off the bat. @Littlejfrey - Amanda Seyfried I will concur that it's a bit basic, but it's flattering. @blackoutbaby - Bella Hadid This is a great example of an outfit, a setting, and a model coming together for an effective shot. @Technicolor - Felicity Jones I appreciate you going for childlike innocence in a round where many went for fierce. The positioning of your body and the upward tilt of your head feels perfect for this shot. @CBC - Giselle Bundchen Like Bella, another shot where all the elements come together expertly. I almost wish this was cut off at the ankle, or that you were angled perfectly horizontally here, but I understand why neither choice was made. @Lemon - Guinevere Van Seenus Oh Ivy Wolk, I didn't know you had this in you. I feel like this would have worked slightly better if you had aimed for intensity in the face vs. lifelessness, but this is another quality entry. @Spicy Pisces - Hunter Schafer This is an entry where it feels like there should be stronger options from this shoot. I think I enjoy this from the neck down, but I'm not super amped by the blank expression and the hand placement. @HyuneSuga - Hyunjin The setting is so picturesque but I almost feel like you don't stand out in it. You almost disappear into it like you're just an element I bc a watercolor painting. In some ways, that's good. @Jai - Irina Shayk Great use of your body here in making strong lines. @Element - Joan Smalls I'm honestly somewhat unsure of the outfit here, but everything else is perfect. @Isolation - Kali Uchis I think the location outmogged you here, and not in the elegant way that it occurs with Hyunjin. @Young In Love - Kate Moss It's strong. @Anvarie - Lucy Liu Honestly, I don't love this. The outfit obscures much of your body to the point where we're only really getting your side profile as a display of modeling, and it isn't the most striking image. @Seffers - Lisa I like the artistic direction here, but I need something from your face. @Angelshark - Madonna Something that you (if you're white I guess) find in your mother's old photo albums. It's kinda effective though. @Opulent - Sasha Pivovarova I see the woodland nymph/witch angle youre going for, and I think it's done well. @TruGemini - Saweetie I do like that there's some intensity to the pose to compensate for your face being covered. This does feel like a risk for week 1 though. @Luckitty - Soap Collins Ok National Geographic, come through. @fais_2311 - Soo Joo Park I think this is the most successful shot where the angle or garment obscures much of the model. It feels additive instead of like a detriment here. @petty - Sora Choi Love that you're clearly modeling through the veil. A standout for the round. @Kabrona - Tyra Banks This will easily be safe. I feel like the eyes should be more piercing here, but otherwise a very strong entry. @Julia Fox - Zhou Xun I think the artistic direction of the shot is carrying more than the modeling here, but you're easily through to next week. @kataraqueen -Lee Hyori Another entry that does subtlety well. You get a seductive longing from this that plays into the scene here.

HDD posts about Miley working with Dr. Luke, then edits article
Yes and no. Someone who's a current hitmaker can get away with collabing with unsavory characters. Someone like Katy needs a lot of good press and promo to stage a comeback, unless the song goes viral. Coming back with a feminist lead single produced by an abuser gained her a lot of negative media coverage that contributed to her floppage, even if the song just sucked anyway.

She saw her Naomi Campbell collab sneak by and thought she could press her luck.
