I really hope we get it soon. My mom loves Beyonce, and her favorite genre is rock, she is SO excited. She just got diagnosed with terminal cancer, and I really hope she gets to hear the album while

I think there's also something to be said about trends naturally happening because enough time has passed since it was last a thing, or because the mood or moment is right for what the genre is/represents. Country, for example, is not something Beyoncé made happen even if the aesthetics of it were bolstered from her usage of it. It had already had a moment with the "yee-haw agenda" in 2019 when she was conceiving of the album, and had been having another (more conservative) moment when it was released.

The difference is that Beyoncé isn't doing these genres (it seems) because of trends or tastes, but to make her own statement about them / music history.

Olivia already made rock-adjacent tracks, Charli is kind of a rockstar with an EDM palette (and seems to be in a place where she doesn't want to have to follow up Brat in any similar way), I don't see any of them doing rock as rushing to follow Beyoncé... only those for whom rock isn't a natural choice would be.

Omg isn't that Yvette's voice in the audience? So it's set up by Parkwood, the promo is beginning!

The fact I can't tell if you're joking.

My sincere answer would be I don't know what Yvette sounds like. SOrry to that woman.

not that it's a big deal or anything anyone should get worked up over but it's funny how it's always "this is just timing" "this is a coincidence" "beyoncé didn't invent this or that" yet this same exact situation happens over and over again, with many different artists and we're still gaslit into pretending this doesn't happen. same for performances, visuals, outfits etc that are often very clearly heavily bey inspired or outright copied.

like it's funny to see artists rush release/announce albums that coincidentally line up with the exact same sound and/or theme bey will be doing but sure let's call it coincidence

I don't think itis a great thing to imagine and accept that sometimes artists do chase their moves (Drake, Lizzo), and sometimes it is a coincidence. lets be fr

Who is gaslighting though?

I don't doubt Beyoncé's impact and trendsetting ability, I know it's occurred, but to say flatly that artists who have already expressed interest in rock or factually made rock-inspired albums are following a genre Beyoncé is currently only rumoured to be doing is... a little much.

And who won Best Country Album?

As much as I enjoy Kacey's music, I think her presence would've been a hindrance to the theme of the album. Beyoncé featuring the last person to win a country AOTY would feel a bit on-the-nose and perhaps even desperate.

I think Miley and Post (though neither being who I'd have asked her to collab with) made sense as per as they were also non-country artists who "went country", and their presence was a second-hand spotlight of how the industry doesn't have an issue with white artists doing that. And Dolly and Willy are different as they represent the establishment, not someone like Kacey who is a current country darling (though I know as a woman she's had her struggles getting country success, too).

Not to mention, I trust Beyoncé's ear. If they songs were good enough, they'd be on the record.

lighten up babe it's a joke scelestial

I disagree on your point about how it would have looked, though. if getting Dolly and Willy to do 10 second spoken-word interludes just for their "stamp of approval" didn't hinder it, why would collaborating with one of the leading progressive women in country music?

if we're being serious, Bey's problem in the Country Song category was the fact that they submitted TEXAS HOLD EM.

Yes I understood it was a joke, and my retort was one as well.

But as for the use of Dolly/Willy vs. Kacey, I already stated why that's different. They represent the establishment. Willy and Dolly are used only introduce tracks (like Linda Martell is) and were, in your own words, "10 second spoken-word interludes". That's far different than a duet, far different than getting and far different (given the narrative of Beyoncé's AOTY losses) than working with the last and rather recent country female who won AOTY. One is a cosign, the other could very easily be looked at as piggybacking.

I'd be a little like if Rosalia worked with Chappell Roan instead of Bjork.

i think she's holding back the kacey songs for a kacey x beyonce collaboration album and 150 stop world tour called 'ON THE HUN'

It's not exactly the same, but I kinda feel like Beyoncé having Kacey on COWBOY CARTER would be like if TEXAS HOLD 'EM featured. Lil Nas X. I'm glad she carved her own country moment out of it, not needing to harken back to the last, recent country wave and the artists that were responsible for it.

Beyoncé doing a country album was left-field, and all its collaborations were as well.

We don't know what goes on behind closed doors in the music industry but there's a likelihood the girls heard B was releasing a album and all rushed.

Fixed.

We're reaching Act III (in my dreams) and they're stuck making comparisons to CCT and a tour I thought was already over.

rogue2

Thank God we have the Met Gala because they're bored.

rogue2

Every single time there are rumors Bey is doing a different genre Artist say their next genre is what she is rumored to be doing next. It is not a coincidence. Bey been working on this 3 act project since covid. I don't have hate towards these other artist and wish them success in any genre they choose to do.

She's always worn very sleek/tight outfits to the met Gala so I'm here for something very big

But then again I wouldn't want our Basé to insult her again

rogue2

Y'all don't want Bey to be in Avant Garde outfits lol? I think it would be cool to see Bey be experimental for Met Gala.

Apparently her merch shop is acting up and stock has been removed? Is this true US hive?

the store is broken, yes. i checked it myself this morning. the valentine's day stuff is there, but if you add it to your cart and click checkout, it says its sold out, and then goes to a white screen that says "COLLECTION NOT FOUND".

I know it was pretty much a foregone conclusion but the way Hayley officially confirmed it's a rock album and coming pretty imminently toofunny3

But also Hayley gyal ……. Pipe it tf down cuz that lady don't like anyone talking about what's coming before it comes. Lest your track vocals end up chopped !!

Yeah I think act 3 is going to be Rock n roll mixed with blues and soul and other sub genres. I do remember when Bey debut album was going to be a more bold soul funk album but they made her scrap it and start over with Dangerously in love.

I went to check, too. If I had accidentally automatically checked out with a size small Valentine's Day robe, I would've leapt through the computer and beat your ass

I wonder how long it's been like that

no shade but does anyone buy her non-music related merch?
